Loving a Runaway Bride: A Historical Western Romance Book by Aurora Hanson

This is the most run on story I have read in awhile. It is filled with boring things that are not even related to the plot. The most exciting thing was when Jess broke his leg and what she had to go through to get him to the house. The hunt for Mikey Dennis was disappointing and the 5 paragraph climax was stupidly played. This story is 414 pages of boring. Even the improprieties engaged in this book is boring, Jess is a eunuch to sleep with a woman for a year without engaging in sex, especially a lonely 30 year old man. I would have quit reading the book, but unfortunately for the author, I am OCD about finishing a book that I have started.

The Devil Inside (Hell's Gate #2) by Jane Hinchey

This is the first book, I've read in this series. Lucifer is a female and is the CEO of Hell. It seems that Gabriel and Michael have closed the gates of heaven and God is missing. This book is missing a lot and the author's concept of heaven and hell are a little demented. There are some humorous moments in this book, but the cliffhanger at the end made me want to delete the book from my kindle. O wait! I am going to delete it from my kindle after I review this book. As God says, "Done!"

Savage Alien (A Sci Fi Alien Abduction Romance) (Vithohn Warriors) by Stella Sky

This is one strange story. The Vithohn conquered earth and they took over the planet after destroying all the earthlings, but there are pockets of humans living all over the planet out of the sight of the Vithohn. One woman discovers that having sex with a Vithohn removes his aggressive tendencies and he becomes reasonable. This idea is far out there, but it is how they get Tesssoul to agree to help them. It had possibilities, but the description of the Vithohn has them having a tentacle, but I not sure where it is attached to them. The story meanders much in the weeks of sex, before Sidney brings him back to the human camp. From there the story really goes south.

Love is the Cure (Hawaiian Paradise Series Book 1) by Kiana Lee

This book is a little New Age for me, and it reinforces those beliefs. The story is compelling and Jessica is typical of any woman trying to further her career. I don't see how these two fell in love with each other. The interaction between these two just fell flat. And the way that Evan got over his narcissistic behavior and confessed he was marrying her for her money way over the top. This story was unbelievable.

Then Came You (Love Everlasting) (The Youngers) by Iris Morland

I really enjoyed this story. My heart broke when Ash pushed too hard and Violet left him. I loved all the fun things they did together. The heat was on, but soon became love when Ash started to care about Violet. Ash needed to learn not to push Violet about her dead husband. He caused her great pain when he tried to prove he was better than her husband. Violet needed to move on with life, like her mother-in-law suggested. Like this book, we need to grow with our pain and suffering. It can make us better human beings.

My Restless Earl (The Duke's Daughters #2) by Rose Pearson

I enjoyed this tale, but I thought that the climax was overdone. The interaction between Jessica and George was good, but I felt Jessica's response to him at times was rather cold. The author wrote George as rather a coward when it came to women; especially when he knew exactly what woman he wanted. What amazed me about the story is the hero is actually very naive.

The Wolf's Temptation (Alpha Wolves of Myre Falls Book 2) Kindle Edition by Anastasia Chase

This is an interesting take on the Lycan world, but the whole time I was reading this book, I felt like the only sober person in the room. Needless to say, the end of the book is left up in the air and I am still not sure if Raven and Corbin are happily ever after. Personally, I don't care how much attraction I have to a person, if I can't communicate with that person, then there's no way I would ever consider a relationship on intimate terms. As far I was concerned, I don't see how someone as intelligent as Raven appears to be could consider anyone as brain dead as Conan. I didn't feel the relationship developing. I hoped he was the one killing the girls, because he was that much of an idiot.

Falling for the Governess: A Historical Regency Romance Book by Abby Ayles

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is a wonderful story of intrigue and heartbreak. The characters Isabella and Christian are compelling. And as for the evil Mr. Smith, he didn't get everything he deserved, but I'm one for hanging or throwing away the key for such evil men. This story is well written and thoroughly enjoyable.

I Know What's Real: A Contemporary Online Romance by Maggie Kane

I don't know what to say about this book. It's really hard for me to imagine to take the kind of risks that Kinsey took having cybersex with a man she's never met, then inviting him into her home. This book is pure erotica and a dangerous fantasy. Things may have had a happily ever after for Kinsey, but not in real life, when you have to be careful with whom you choose to be with.

The story is well-written and the erotic sex scenes are sensual, Fortunately, the writer decided to write from both male and female perspective to help the story fall into the romance category, otherwise; I would have been frightened for Kinsey the whole time I was reading this.

Earl of Davenport (Wicked Earls' Club #7) by Maggie Dallen

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I liked the story and the characters of this book. Anne is independent and knows what needs to be done. She is soft hearted and is willing to sacrifice for her family, even though, they never truly accepted her because of her being born on the wrong side of the blanket. The Earl has always done every thing to prove his parents right when they called him a little devil. Now, that Fredrick is Earl, he needs a wife, but Anne's offer of her sister Claire, makes him decide that he needs the fire that is Anne. I felt that the story should have been longer to give more depth to the characters, and a better way for the Earl to actually fall in love.

The Lady's Smile by Fiona McKellar

This book is quite different from the usual highland books. Most are about the upper crust of Scotland or some clan. This is about a tavern called "The Lady's Smile" and it's owners. We meet Louisa, the owner and her niece, Gelis. Our hero enters, when he saves Gelis from some soldiers. I really like this story, but felt it fell short. It felt like the interaction between the two characters could have been more connected. Otherwise, the story was very good.

He's a Duke, But I Love Him: A Historical Regency Romance (Happily Ever After Book 4) by Ellie St. Clair

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is an adorable tale of a bluestocking and independent woman. A woman, who is willing to risk all for adventure and love. Her adventures get her married to the rake, Alastair Finchley, the Duke of Brekenridge. The Duke soon learns that Olivia is going to keep him on his toes. I enjoyed each adventure that Olivia put her husband through and laughed when he realized it was better to be in on the adventure with her, than worry about her on her own. Love is going to take this rake by surprise, in the form of an independent and spirited woman.

Regency Treats: Ten Romance Short Stories Boxed Set by Isabella Hargreaves

There are some really great little stories in here, but there are also some bad. Overall, it's great for a quick read in a long line. Most of these stories took less then 15 minutes to read. All of the stories have their fine points, but I could have done without the wanton widows. The last story, I can't recommend reading. It was offensive to my morality.

Bargaining With a Rake (Whisper of Scandal #1) by Julie Johnstone

I loved the interaction between Alex and Gillian. You just knew from the beginning that Drake and her were not going to work out. The first clue was it took forever for her to get introduced to him. This story has another side plot of blackmail twisted through it and adds to the excitement of the climax.

The Right Design by Isabella Louise Anderson

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
This book is about an interior designer, Carrie. She comes home to find her boyfriend of six years having sex with a woman he picked up at bar doing it on their kitchen counter. She moves out, instead of throwing him out, since she's the one with the job. She decides to move from Dallas to Palm Beach, Florida to start new in her life. Besides, she is tired of Roger showing up everywhere and trying to apologize. In Palm Beach, she meets Brad. Personally, I could never fall in love with a man named Brad. I actually hate that name. And his first introduction to Carrie, he came off as "Sleazy Brad". Brad proves himself later on in the book, but still Carrie compromises her work ethics to be with him. Although this book is well written, I find the values of these characters lacking.

Tajael (Fallen Angels #1) by Alisa Woods

This is a story about half angels and how they are given guardian duty. I found some things in this story about angels offensive. This is probably me and my view of heaven. This author takes her idea of heaven to a whole new level or should I say dimension. Not one character in this book was someone I would want to associated with or identify with. This is a fail for me. I'm adding a star for creativity and a well written plot.

Promise of Home (Pioneer Romance #1) by Grace Fisher

This story is well-written and inspiring. This book is about Regan, her husband Carrick is actually a side character. This story had so much promise, until the end of the book. I'll say I was disappointed in the author. I understand that this book is the first in a series, but I actually have no intent to go on.

Babyjacked: A Second Chance Romance by Sosie Frost

This story is hilarious and really sad at the same time. Some of the lines in this story are priceless. The secrets and the self worth that these two think about themselves is sad. The interaction between these two is intense and you keep wondering why they keep fighting it. The truth is neither really wants to deal with the truth.

Season of Love (Cutter's Creek #11) by Vivi Holt

This story was fun. Margaret is a do-gooder with a heart filled with love. She opens Heath's heart by taking in children the town shuffles from home to home, because they really don't want them. You'll enjoy the story and maybe you'll find a little Christmas Spirit along the way.

The perfomance on the audiobook is outstanding.

Finding Hope: Mail Order Bride (Brides and Promises) Kindle Edition by Ruby Hill

It goes to show that each one of us have insecurities. I enjoyed this story and recommend the read. If you feel plain and unattractive, you'll find hope reading this book.

A Virtual Affair by Tracie Podger

This story left my heart breaking with joy and tears as I read along the story. This book is emotional and at points I got angry with a woman who wouldn't fight back, but I also understood what kind of person she was and why she didn't. Twenty five years of an abusive marriage will do that to a woman. Not physical, but emotional abandonment on the part of her husband is a form of abuse. I don't agree with affairs, but her husband had left her years before. The only time he talked to her was to keep her from spending any money. He controlled her by roping her at home financially. Her meeting Stefan changed how she looked at herself and she needed that in her life. We never know what life will bring, and we need to live our lives to the fullest. Jayne never learned that until it was almost too late.

Frontier Gift of Love (American Wilderness #5) by Dorothy Wiley

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I read this about two years ago. I remember this book because of the emotional level the author achieves within the hero's character. I enjoyed the hard packed action and the relationship he had with his wife and adopted son.

Lawfully Charmed by Kate Cambridge

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I actually loved this story. It is action packed, and with a heroine with enough gumption to be a Texan. The attraction between these two is instantaneous and you wonder if the sheriff has gotten himself in to deep with Claire. Claire made me laugh and smile whenever she confused Sully. It made for a delightful tale and some action packed drama.

Lawfully Loved by Jenna Brandt

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is a quaint romantic story. Jake meets Rebecca when his horse go down and walks his horse to the nearest livery. The two have a mutual attraction and Jake doesn't know if he is ready to move on from the loss of his wife and son. Rebecca is taking care of her sick mother and the house and looking after her brother and sister. These two need each other and I liked the interaction and the attraction between these two. You'll enjoy this story just to sit back, relax and enjoy a romance of two souls that need each other.

The Viscount's Wife: Christian Victorian Era Historical (Window to the Heart Saga Book 7) by Jenna Brandt

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story has it all. There is a mystery of misplaced things, and William is concerned about Debbey, because she was attacked by wolves in England. There are no wolves in England, the early 1500's they had all been wiped out of England. Anyway, concerned that she is presenting signs of rabies. Debbey must traverse the English nobility, because she is now a Vicountess. The mother-in-law that is trying to destroy Debby, because she doesn't think she is good enough for William. This woman seriously needs to be in an asylum. We understand why William left England and ventured to America. His family dynamics are horrible and the death that his father and brother suffered was due to their own sins. It becomes clearer that the sins this family have compounded are being exposed as William takes over the Viscountcy. You'll stay glued to the very end, because you never know what is going to come out about William's family next.

Lawfully Matched by Lorana Hoopes

This one played out like I thought mail-order bride might happen. She ends up with a robber and murderer. She escapes and finds a lawman to help her. He marries her for convenience, but of course they fall in love. This story is well-written and has lots of action. Despite her running from the man who sent for her, our heroine is brave and has a lot of gumption, more woman than our hero is used to.

Lawfully Played (A Texas Lawkeeper Romance) by Annie Boone

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story is where karma come in play. I really like how the author made us see Thomas Roper from Tess's point of view when we are first introduced to him. The next chapter describes the really Tommy. This story is well written and you rout for Zack to get Tess away from Tommy, once you hit the second chapter.

Say You're Sorry: Wolf Shifter Revenge by Jacey Ward

This story had what psychologists call "Stockholm Syndrome". I know he couldn't take true revenge on her. Still, he left her in a state of terror being locked in that room after the way he kidnapped her. What didn't make sense at the beginning of this book is how the author enforced the idea of that she was a dyed in the wool police inspector, who was forced to take a vacation. She would have never have made love with her tormentor and definitely would have had him arrested for kidnapping her. The story is not plausible with the heroine, because it's like she forgets that she is a police inspector and lets the bad guy become the hero. You can't have it both ways. This is where I lose it with this story.

Lake of Destiny (Celtic Legends #1) by Martina Boone

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I really enjoyed this story. The descriptions of the area are beautiful. The story is about a woman so down on her life and family that she accepts an invitation to Scotland from the only one of her family she has deep affection for. This story is about rising above the ugly and accepting true love and the beauty and the pain of it. It's about living our lives to the fullest instead of hiding away in a tower. The Sighting adds magic to the love that Anna and Connal develop for each other.

The Lord’s Secret Valentine by Isabella Thorne

Although this book has 9 stories in it, I am reviewing "The Lord's Secret Valentine. I have read "Loving the Bitter Baron" and highly recommend it.

This is a delightful story about a woman who is tired of the London scene and men who court her, but she finds no attraction in. Her father wants her to secure her future, but she is a bluestocking and cannot fathom a man who cannot value her abilities. Back home, she meets two men, Richard and Mr. Wadeson. Her father favors Mr. Wadeson, but Harriet's heart falls for Richard. You'll like Harriet and will love the way that Richard treats her, and you'll despise Mr. Wadeson, because what's there not to despise when the man won't converse with you, but talks at you like a child and will only converse with your father.

Dragons Of Umora Complete Series (Dragons Of Umora #1 To #5) by Sarah J. Stone

I've got to tell you, these stories surprised me. The are written so they are back to back in time. It's like one giant space opera between two worlds; Earth and Umora. There are five different relationship, but all the characters easily transition from story to story. These stories are best read back to back and you'll have a week's vacation in another world.

The Viscount's Vow (Castle Brides #1) by Collette Cameron

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is a strange but romantic tale. First of all, the forced marriage to a gypsy girl would never happen. The Romain in England would have abide by England law while in England. Their rules only apply in their country and encampments. So technically, she could never divorce him. The story however is well written and there is lots of intrigue and passion. So this would I chalk up to a well written fairy tale.

Loving the Bitter Baron: Sweet and Clean Regency Romance (His Majesty's Hounds Book 11) by Arietta Richmond

Talk about self hate, this book really nails that on the head. How Lady Alyse can put up with the on and off switch in this man is patience in itself. How many times did he hurt her, even after he rescued her from the madman, and yet she loved him. Only when he stopped looking through his own eyes and through the way those who loved and cared for him did he start to get thing right. Forgiveness begins with yourself.

A Damsel for the Mysterious Duke: A Historical Regency Romance Book by Bridget Barton

 Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story is delightful. Emerson and Georgina are childhood friends. Georgina knew him as Sammy. I enjoyed how the delved into the past  to find out Emerson mysterious past. The answers will surprise you, but the love between these two is real and based on a deep friendship.

Flames of Love (Firefighters of Long Valley #1) by Erin Wright

I throughly enjoyed this story. Jaxson and Sugar mesh well together. Neither judged each other’s past, just accepted it and helped each other move on. This is Love at its finest, no judgement, just acceptance and allowing each one to forgive themselves. Oh, and Hamlet is the best dog ever. He brought humor and joy wherever he went.

This will not appear on my reviews on Goodreads or Amazon:
Erin Wright has been writing two versions of her book for her audience, one sweet and one sexy. I have read both versions this time and really the difference is just the sex scenes, and doesn't really add or detract from the story itself. I don't blame her for choosing to write only the sexy version from now on. So for you out there that love Erin Wright, but don't like the sex scenes. Don't worry, you can skim through it and not lose a thing.

Craving the Cowboy (Grape Seed Falls Romance) by Liz Isaacson

This story started off slow, but with one still grieving her father and the other recovering from brain trauma, the relationship would go slow. In this book, we find the "Love is Patient" applies. After 8 years, Dwayne is still recovering from the bomb explosion in Iraq and he understand patience. Felicity is still grieving her father and some things still bring the grief. I understand this, because there are things, even 14 years later after my father's death that will bring a tear to my eye. You never really get over loss, because it changes you. You live with the change and go on with all you've been blessed with and this is the real theme of the book.

Once Upon A Time: A Collection of Folktales, Fairytales and Legends by Demelza Carlton

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is story collection of fairy tales from the original telling. These are not fairy tales for children. They can be quite gruesome and shocking. I enjoyed reading each tale and seeing how it differed from the children versions that I had learned. It seems there isn't always a happily ever after in a fairy tale.

Jazzed Up by Pahkee Dhillon

This story is based on tarot cards drawn for the heroine. Basically this story comes down to an acid trip, and then hooks up after the trip with some musician. The hero of this story is questionable, and the heroine has sex and fall in love until she is dumped the next day. After reading this, I thought I was on drugs. There no plot, no real story, a bunch of crazy tea drugged sex, and a heroine who falls in love twice in three days, once on her acid trip and to a musician she thinks looks like her acid trip lover. I can't find this on Amazon or Goodreads, so I can't add it to my reading challenge. This book is a waste of time.

Healing Her Heart (Crystal Lake #1) by Laura Scott

This was a fun and romantic story. The characters are bright and have very good emotional depth. They learn from their past mistakes, but may be a little too cautious. It is well written and entertaining.

Claimed (Many Lives #4) by Laxmi Hariharan

This book is action packed from the moment you open it. The two main characters are smoldering and edgy in their interaction. The suspense of the action left you on the edge until each battle was over. This world is not for the weak, and only the strong survive.
