Although I am happy they got their HEA, I felt awkward throughout this story as no one knew what role to play. Christopher didn’t even try to get to know Agnes because as soon as the Duke set eyes on Agnes, the Duke wanted her and Caroline became a sideline that nobody wanted except some stable hand, poor Caroline. She was so unloved that she settled for a stable hand. True love may win the day but to settle for a man who may not be able to support her because her  talents as a lady will not support her poor husband in his chosen profession is particularly sad. Although Agnes was well suited to a duchess role because she loves to meddle and make things work to her and her friend’s advantage.
