A Mystery for the Earl: Regency Romance (Ladies, Love, and Mysteries #4) by Joyce Alec

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story is about a woman who saves the life of the Rake of London. The shadow take on finding out who is trying to kill the Earl, while Catherine nurses him back to health. In the end, the Earl finds he doesn't want to change his ways. And Catherine & the Earl find out who's responsible. I think the other Shadows were just lazy, and hoping that Catherine & the Earl would do all the work. The intrigue is good, but I think the plot could have been better.

Unsuitable Betrothal: Regency Romance (Ladies, Love, and Mysteries #3) by Joyce Alec

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is probably the best one. This one is about a secret betrothal and an ornament. The woman who loves Lord Bentham must see this mystery through. As the woman who is the betrothed has asked Hannah for help to find the ornament. The plot will hold you as Hannah, Lord Bentham and Miss Lewisham try to find the documents and the ornament.

The Shadows: Regency Romance (Ladies, Love, and Mysteries #2) by Joyce Alec

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Here is a man trying to keep out of the marriage mart. Mr. Stephen Paxton gets involved with a woman when Lord Atherton is brutally attack at his own party. The repartee between these two is delightful. Julia keeps Stephen on his toes, and he realizes now that the mystery is solved. He doesn't want to go on without her. The plot is well thought out and works very well within the story lines. I get tired of Mr. Paxton trying to shake off what he is feeling, but he does finally recognize his feelings. Which makes him the hero in the end.

A Lady's Mystery: Regency Romance (Ladies, Love, and Mysteries #1) by Joyce Alec

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story has some funny scenes, but Marion is concerned that someone is trying to harm Alexander. Although, she shuns the idea of being betrothed to him, her heart doesn't want him to come to harm. There is no great mystery for the reader, because we know who the villain is, but these two become emotionally involved looking into the details of this issue. It is well written and the plot well thought out. The characters are well written, but something falls short in the climax of the story.

Ginger Danger (Mint Chocolate Chip Mysteries Book 2) by Emmie Lyn

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story is hilarious and in the style of other Blueberry Cove stories. Sunny will keep you on your toes and we follow her on opening day of her Smoothie Shop. The strangest things happen and to her friends no less. Her neighbor Tillie is a hoot, but an annoying elderly person. She classically noses herself into almost every situation. This is an enjoyable little mystery, but has no depth in the sense of the mystery, but the characters will keep you laughing.

Her Cowboy Billionaire Boss (Christmas in Coral Canyon #2) by Liz Isaacson

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
This story started with a lot of whining. It picked up as the book went along, but it's weird how Eli all of a sudden started noticing Meg. I felt Eli took advantage of his nanny after she told him her feelings. Men play these games all the time or they are just blind and stupid, take your choice. Eli's a good man, but playing with a woman's affection and not saying anything just shows how blind and stupid men are, maybe it's the testosterone. No I did not like this story. It is well written, but I think Meg is a weak woman who doesn't stand up for herself. Eli is a man who used that weakness to gain himself a new wife.

Love's Prophet (First Street Church Romances #3) by Melissa Storm

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story is very inspirational at this time in my life. Although, I feel her mother did her daughter a disservice by putting such a large responsibility on her. I understand because she knew her husband would not let her go, and start to live again. She made sure her husband would love again through their daughter. Liam is settling into his grief and not living. This I can understand. Sometimes, we need a light or someone to push us into living again.

The Last Lady of Thornhill Manor by Patricia Haverton

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story is well written and the mystery in the plot is daring. The main characters are lovable. The problem with the story is that the author doesn't incorporate "the last in line" rule. All that the present Duke has will go to the crown. His daughter will marry whoever the King decrees and this man will be come the new Duke. The King may have agreed before the man's death if the daughter married who she willed, as long as he was an acceptable, he would appoint that man the next Duke. None of this is actually explained in this book. I just happened to know this rule through some studying. This book is only available through subscription to Patricia Haverton's newsletter. It is a great read, but it's kind of off putting without knowing the rules for "last in line".

Then Again A Small Town Romantic Comedy, The Juniper Court Series, Book 3 By: Sylvie Stewart Narrated by: Kelsey Navarro

Rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐
Basically, this story is about a woman who wants a summer fling. The problem is her first date ended her up involved with a drug dealer, and ends up meeting Sam Martinez. The cop who tried to pick her up while she was jogging. The problem is Sam seems like a forever kind of guy. He agrees to her crazy summer fling idea, but what Jenna doesn't want is for her fall in love again. There are scenes in the typical Sylvie Stewart style that are hilariously funny. There are others that are kind of sad and pathetic. This is because as Jenna's character is built; we see the difficulty of her moving on with her life. All in all, it is a very good story, just not Sylvie's best.

The Lost King (A King's Tale #2) by Leilani Love

Rating: ⭐⭐
Tis is the age old tale of Camelot, but with a slight twist. Lancelot his his cousin and he falls for Guinevere before he pulls the sword out of the stone. This story ends with the fight for Arthur's kingdom. Personally, I was neither intrigued or do I have any inclination to read further into this story. Let's face it kingdoms fall all the time to stupidity of the heart.

Blame it on Paris (Bennett Sisters Series #7) by Lise McClendon

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
This is the first book I've read in this series and the story by itself can standalone. The book gets off to a really good start, but the story starts to drag when we get to France. These two are too old to play the silly games of romance, but it seems that they do. Dylan didn't hold up to be a really great guy for Francie. This caused a big disappointment in me. I think the author could have done better with Dylan's character. When this story ends, there is no real HEA and there is no real definition of there relationship.

It Takes Two A Maple Glen Romance, Book 1 By: Christina Butrum Narrated by: Lorana Hoopes

Clayton has a lot to learn about running his parents business, because they are all set to retire. Emmalee is a business major new to town. Emmalee takes a job behind Clayton's back and it guilts her that she is keeping a secret from him. This story shows us the value of two people working together for one cause. Each has there own talents to bring to the business, the question is can they keep their personal relationship growing. I love how they work things out, and the dog walking was hysterical.

Pemberley: Mr. Darcy's Dragon: A Pride and Prejudice Variation Jane Austen's Dragons, Book 1 By: Maria Grace Narrated by: Benjamin Fife

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I loved this story. It is an exciting beginning to Pride & Prejudice dragon style. The story is imaginative as it follows the classic. We have a lost dragon egg, a grumpy old dragon, fairy dragons, and a stuffy Mr. Darcy who finds the heir of Longburn a fascinating woman. He finds there isn't a dragon around that doesn't love Elizabeth Bennet, including is own companion dragon. I would love to review the rest of the these audiobooks and I have recommended this story to my friends.

My Lady Marzipan (Rare Confectionery #3) by Sydney Jane Baily

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
I liked this story. It's more like a Cinderella story. Charlotte is a confectioner and works in the family business. She attracts a Viscount when the object of her affection runs off to Paris with another women. Her oldest sister already had her fairy tale and married a Duke. The Viscount is a friend of the Duke and visits the confectioner shop when the Duke visits his wife there. I think her parents give her too much leeway when they leave and let her run the shop. This story takes a lot of liberties, but always reminds us that they are breaking polite society protocol. Which is a little annoying at times. In fact, I think that it starts to stagnate the story at points. I find the personality of the Viscount stogy and two-faced. He makes all kinds of assumptions and doesn't ask Charlotte about them. Also he knows the girl is quite naive, that is made clear as to how she has run the shop in her parents absence. My main point of this story is that this romance would never have stood up in the Regency Era. So, I have reduced this story to just a fairy tale.

Highlander’s False Identity: Scottish Medieval Highlander Romance (Highlanders of Clan Craig Book 3) by Shona Thompson

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I'm not sure this is the right name for this story. It's about two childhood friends from different clans. One has runaway from her brother, she is wanted for witchcraft. The other must prove he is ready to become laird. Together, they must fight the secret invasion by the English. This story is well-written, but the action scene at the climax is a bit confusing. I had a hard time keeping up with what was going on, because the fight scene tried to contain both our hero's thoughts of the battle at the same time.

Saving Miss Everly (Inglewood #3) by Sally Britton

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is a beautiful story of love found on an island. Every one washed up on the island has their own story. Hope's is that she is pretending be her sister Grace. Our hero has been stranded for three years and has no hope of ever being rescued. For these two, it is an immediate connection. I found the ending to this story a little drawn out and awkward so that it could reach it's happy conclusion.

Fire Maidens: Portugal Billionaires & Bodyguards, Book 4 By: Anna Lowe Narrated by: Kelsey Osborne

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I was not disappointed. Marcus and Laura are wonderful together. When Marcus realizes that his behavior is causing more harm than good, he actually begins to think like the soldier he truly is. Even with his brusque behavior in the beginning, it is understandable as we go through Marcus's thinking process. I liked that this story focused more on Marcus than the other stories focused more on the females. This one was more equally based, and helped to make the story more relatable and enjoyable. Once Marcus accepts that Laura is his mate, his personality suddenly takes a major shift. It's like the wary soldier turns a switch off and becomes someone else or maybe the man he was meant to be.

Almost Fired by the Cowboy: Western Romance (Miller Brothers of Texas Book 4) by Natalie Dean

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I don't know if this book was intended to be witty, but it is. The interaction between these makes me smile. Sal is insecure and needs his father's approval. Nova struggles everyday for survival, which includes trying not to get fired by the boss's son. Sal is attracted to Nova, because she is different and intelligent. Nova soon learns there is more to Sal than the big handsome cowboy. I loved how the author moved their relationship along at a nice building pace til both recognized that they were in love with each other.

The Dashing Lord of Her Heart by Alice Kirks

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is the first story I have read by this author. The story and the characters are well-written. The plot is woman runs away to London from beastly fiance, includes grabbing and bruising her and threats to her person. She finds a position cleaning in a shop, but a Lady comes in and likes that she speaks French, and hires her as her Lady's maid without her brother's permission. Said brother is intrigued with new Lady's maid, but catches her occasionally speaking correct English. How Lord Crompton handles the situation when he finds out why Elizabeth is hiding out is magnanimous, but I think Elizabeth is a really naive and stupid person if she thinks her father won't recognize her in a maid's costume. My point here is that this is contrast to Elizabeth's intelligence on how she has handled everything up until this point. Lord Crompton already knows everything by this point in the story. Why not just tell him who he invited to dinner? I understand why the author wrote it this way, so the story would come to a quicker climax, but it felt wrong to harm our heroine in this way. Otherwise, this is very enjoyable story.

This story can only be obtained by subscribing to Alice Kirks' newsletter.

A Muse for the Lonely Marquess: A Clean & Sweet Regency Historical Romance Novel by Abby Ayles

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
This story is well-written with a nice plot. The problem is the love story between the Marquess and the bookseller. Meredith is young, impetuous and naive when it comes to trusting others. She ends up in a complete mess with the responsibility of the book shop. The way that the Marquess and Meredith dealt with the common trash that ripped them off is so left wing in it's social values that I wanted to rip the book up, but it is on Kindle, so I am reduced to deleting it. The Marquess would never marry a bookseller or get his father to approve. This book is so far out of the reality of Regency England. I am classifying it as a fairy tale for left wing socialists.

Unexpected Love (Black Swan #3) by KaLyn Cooper

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story is the first I've read in this series. The story is intense and action-packed. Some of the interaction between Grace & Griffin is a little lame, but later on becomes very steamy. The story doesn't really have an ending, except for Grace & Griffin finally becoming an item.

Wed in Disgrace (Convenient Arrangements #3) by Rose Pearson

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is a rather good story for a short story. There is intrigue and one good action scene. The ending is rather weak, which was a small disappointment. The scenario is an Uncle sells off his daughter to a Viscount accused of murder. The new bride tries to help her husband to prove his innocence. The characters are likeable all except the Uncle. He's a disgrace to nobility everywhere.

The Cold Earl's Bride by Audrey Ashwood

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Although Marcus starts out cold to his bride, he is soon thawing not only to her beauty, but her inner beauty as well. The plot is really thick and deep in this story. In the end, he confides in his bride about the plot to ruin him completely. She tries to help him find out who they are in her own intelligent way. Although this is a short novel, the story has a deep plot and an exciting climax.

Liliana's Letter by Alina K. Field

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story is well written and with a good plot. The characters are well-developed and held my interest. Lord Grigsby is compelling with his interest in Liliana. He makes it his mission to find out why Liliana wants to remain a spinster. Although Liliana has her reasons, she is charmed and quickly falling in love with Lord Grigsby. The only drawback to this story is the weak ending.
