This story unsettled me, as I realized what was going on. The way that the Earl put the announcement in the newspaper pretty much ruining Catherine if she did not marry him. I don't care how much he claimed to love me and wanted to prevent me from marrying the wrong man. I would never marry a man that could harm me in that way. This scenario is dangerous and it was not romantic. This is the first Joyce Alec book that has truly disappointed me.
