I don't know if this book was intended to be witty, but it is. The interaction between these makes me smile. Sal is insecure and needs his father's approval. Nova struggles everyday for survival, which includes trying not to get fired by the boss's son. Sal is attracted to Nova, because she is different and intelligent. Nova soon learns there is more to Sal than the big handsome cowboy. I loved how the author moved their relationship along at a nice building pace til both recognized that they were in love with each other.
