This story is about overcoming prejudice and an overbearing and controlling father. The love these two share cannot be overcome by love alone, but by people who truly love you and will stand with you. I think maybe the asylum was a bit much, but it got the point of the story across, and what lengths his father was willing to go to keep control over his son.
