Hinterland Series Book 2: The Wolf's Quarry by K.T. Harding

This series gets more interesting as we move forward with Knox and Raleigh. The Hinterland series is an enjoyable mystery and adventure mystery series. You'll laugh, cry and then stare wide-eyed in unbelief as the story unfolds. Get ready, because K.T. Harding is taking you on a strange but riveting adventure.

The Wolf's Lover by Anastasia Chase

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I liked this story. Cara is a lone wolf that left a pack that she didn't agree with it's policies. Titan is the son to the alpha and when he scents Cara during a bear attack, he knows he has found his mate. Titan wants more than passion, he wants Cara's heart. How these two resolve their issues makes this book worth reading.

What Makes You Beautiful (Cupid's Bow: The Third Generation Book 4) by Melissa Storm

This story kind of got to me, as I didn't see a way for this relationship to flourish. If one is willing to make sacrifices for love, than anything is possible. Taylor and Noah are proof of this. Noah saw beauty where others saw none. He found a woman different from all others and knew that she was for him. It's a shame that Taylor saw Noah for what she wanted in a man, but wasn't willing to find a way for them to be together. This story is heartbreaking at points and Taylor doesn't have an optimistic view on much. So, let's thank God for Noah's family!

Let There Be Light (Sled Dog #2) by Melissa Storm

First of all let me say, I really love this series. The second book is just as good as the first book. Melissa has a way of creating friction between two characters without letting it go too far.  She also creates women with great compassion and a great capacity for love. Scarlett and Henry are a great mix, and doubt and misunderstanding help this story along. Henry is a big surprise in this book and he grows on you as the story progresses. The race that these stories are around create a wonderful backdrop. You'll love Scarlett and Henry.

Maid for the Rock Star (Romance Island Resort #1) by Demelza Carlton

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I liked this story and I loved Audra, the rock star not so much. Arrogance doesn’t even describe this selfish boy. He may be a rock star but he’s definitely not a man. He only wanted Audra because she kept telling him no. That’s the way all little boys behave. Audra kept her head through most of this story and took one last adventure before beginning her dream.

Let it Snow (Passion & Promises #1) by Erica Ridley

I loved this story. It has all the classic fairy tale elements and is humorous to boot. Lance is an unexpected hero and teaches Princess Marigold many things that lead to breaking the curse. Simply delightful!

Beauty and the Bad Bearlionaire (Kindle Edition) by Scarlett Grove

This is the author's version of Beauty and the Beast, only Matilda is no Belle. She may be beautiful on the outside, but Matilda is rude and selfish. James is no catch either, but when Matilda shows up from the cleaning service he recognizes her as his fated mate. James is beastly, and thinks he's crazy, so he does everything to drive Matilda away. Unfortunately, Matilda is now working for her mom and has nowhere else to go. This book is humorous and diverts from the theme of the other Fate Mountain books.

Promises of Sunlight (The McDougalls #2) by Audrey Adair

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I had to laugh at Finlay. He thought if he just treated her well, she would fall in love with him. It is only when Finlay started giving of himself that love finally started to bloom in Kyla's heart. The play between the two characters was good, but I don't think the attraction that was suggested is really played out.

Alpha Fated: Called By The Alpha (Paranormal Wolf Shifter Romance Suspense) by Scarlett Grove

This story was confusing once I got to the middle of the book. It was as if the author wasn't sure of where she was going with the story. To be honest, this is really not my type of book. I hate submissive women. A real man knows how to deal with a woman with her own thoughts and feelings. Charity has her place in a pack, but she is disrespected by all males concerned about her powers, even her true mate doesn't show her the respect she deserves as the power to the alpha.

Alien Commander's Bride (Draconians #1) by Scarlett Grove

This story was strangely depressing. The world described is almost apocalyptic and aliens now hold all the wealth and power. The humans below scramble to live with mob bosses controlling all the alien technology. This is where Lexi finds herself and sacrificing herself for her sister. Nash, who bought his mate from earth, tries to convince Lexi that they will be good together. Lexi could believe it could be true, but her thoughts are on her sister and her predicament. Nash does not know how to make Lexi happy, but it does try. Once he understands that her family is important and that the illegal alien technology is responsible, thing finally start to work out. This story is well written, but the ending kind of leaves you hanging.

An Unexpected Union by Eva Forest

I read this awhile ago, and now have just been getting around to review it. Alice has been jilted and been badly hurt. She leave and goes west as a mail order bride. Alice learns to trust Bradan, but Bradan is your typical man and believes he must do all the providing. This story is good and worth reading.

Zenkian Warriors The Complete Series (Books 1-4) by Maia Starr

I like this book set together. I would have never read the whole series if I had read the first book. This book made me angry and felt that these warriors were nothing more than monsters. The author redeemed herself in the other 3 books, so if you can get past the first book, go ahead and read the rest.

To Love...and Renovate: A Holiday Wedding Romance (Sweetwater Island Ferry Series Book 2) by Sophie Mays

This is a little gem of a book. This book is light hearted and makes you think how much we try to stuff into our life at one time. A wedding is being planned with life going all around. How Tristan and Virginia manage it all is quite amazing.

Coming Home to Steeple Ridge: A Buttars Brothers Novel (Steeple Ridge Romance #4) by Liz Isaacson

First of all, I want to say is I love this cover. It depicts the type of man that Darren is. My heart broke at least 3 times in this story. How one woman can carry so much baggage is beyond me? It kept rearing its ugly head and you would think it would have given even a patient man like Darren to just throw up his hands in surrender. Darren is beyond patient and kind, his love is unconditional and enduring. This story moved me to tears and in the end, I could finally smile.

Jake (The Clan Legacy) by J. S. Striker

This is a really good story. It kept my interest from the beginning and even has a few humorous moments. Yes, Jake takes his duties seriously and he is a problem for Gabby. We see a relationship go from frozen to steamy to love. It's not instantaneous, but it grows as Jake tries to protect Gabby, not realizing that he needs to protect Gabby from herself.

Innocent Lies (Hidden Truth Book 4) by Robin Patchen

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The whole time I read this book, I felt what is wrong with this woman? Maybe, I'll never understand a woman that has been broken, but she knew her husband was a police officer. His love and devotion to her, even though she had been taken and then later declared dead, was amazing. She did what she had to do to survive and I understand that, but for her to think she could take down Carlos by herself was ridiculous. She needed people with more power than she had and that was her husband. This story made me think about what those women go through. Carlos's new girl was a good example of that, and seeing what she did through her eyes made this story really work. I understand why Kelsey did what she did with Daniel, but I think her reasoning was messed up, even if her heart was in the right place. This story really made me think about all those women out there being bought and sold.

Fall: Scheherazade Retold by Demelza Carlton

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story started off great, but it was just too short. I was left wanting more of their story. I believe Hans and Zoraida deserve a more complete tale.

The Bride's Sister's Revenge (Loveable Mail Order Brides #2) by Faith Johnson

I normally don't review these kind of books, but there is a blurb in the back of the book to please review. I think Sally is an awful person and what she did to her poor sister was despicable. Otis was once again used by Sally, but he jumped in to save Nell and her brother from brothel life. Otis and Nell grew close to each other and learn to trust again. These type of stories are not great but they pass the time while waiting. This story has just a little more emotional depth than most.

Love's Prayer (The First Street Church Romance #1) by Melissa Storm

It's interesting that sometimes a prayer is answered in our darkest times. Ben was on the deep end of his life, and a prayer to a God he wasn't sure he believed in anymore was answered in an arrangement of flowers. Summer is taking over for aunt in her flower shop and is floundering in the shop and in her life decisions. This story will make you cry, laugh and bring out some deep emotions. Happy is about the choices we make to change our lives. Ben and Summer learn this through a beautifully tight knit community.

Love Rebuilt (Kings Grove #1) by Delancey Stewart

This romance has a thriller aspect to it, and makes Maddie wonder about her choices in life. Jack, her ex-husband keeps coming up to King's Grove to taunt her, but the reasons for it remain unknown. As Maddie says, "Jack, you visit more now, then when I was here as your wife."  Maddie learns to redefine what love is through her new relationship with Connor when she starts living outside of herself again. You'll love this book and realize what love truly can become.

Earth's Mark (Lords of Krete #2) by Rachael Slate

This is a great love story between two strong characters. Although, in this case, the man has the soft heart that is willing to bend. He does this for his people, and for the woman that he is falling in love with. He will have to overcome many obstacles, but the greatest one will be Kleo's heart. This book is well written and fits well within the series.

King Roan: Time Travel (The Eternal Knot Series #1) by S. Brown

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐
Book One is a set up for the rest of the series. How a modern day woman would ever tolerate a man from three thousand years ago would be impossible. This author writes Kendra as patient and kind, but she does not tolerate rude behavior. Roan is every bit the arrogant, dominating and piggish man of his era. He learns when transported to the future that the woman who is his soulmate won't tolerate his behavior. The author doesn't make me believe that Roan is from the past and Kendra accepts it too fast. The Lynda thing was unbelievable and totally stupid, and was used to get Kendra and Roan to go back to the past. Also, the holy man should have been trained in some order, which is not mentioned. Why are these nine men holy?  What God or Gods do they serve? The story really needs some rework, otherwise the concept is good.

Pax has it all, but defies his father and moves to Costa Rica to create a dream for himself. Pax comes home on his mother's birthday every year and fantasizes about his sister's friend Sage. Paranormal Vampire Romance: Saving the Miracle Worker by Stacey Davidson

I had great hopes for this novel as I started reading this. The book started off explaining what was going on in Valerie's head and switched off to Michael's. I'm not sure if I like her version of the vampire, but it is her world and she doesn't fully explain how he works, except that he is mostly human, sensitive to sunlight, eats and drinks to sustain the body, drinks blood to keep the mind alive and doesn't age. I let the author explain Valerie's power, lets just say it is uncontrollable and leaves Valerie with debilitating migraines. This book doesn't have a conclusion and there is nothing on the front of the book to say it continues. It left me disappointed and grieved for a good story in the making. I hate these kind of books, the author may think I want to read more, but she would be wrong. A Great story has a conclusion and wants you to come back for more. Now, I just don't care.

Diana Adores the Puzzled Earl: A Historical Regency Romance Novel by Hanna Hamilton

This story represents how real relationships start. It starts out with friendship and an attraction that simmers and boils before either party decides to act upon it. I loved the idea of the business partnership and how her fiancée used the loan to get her to agree to a marriage. It set conflict on both sides of the relationship, with the Earl's sister badgering him to accept the Viscount's offer, so she could snag a husband at 38 years of age.

Kissing the Duke of Hearts: Sweet and Clean Regency Romance (His Majesty's Hounds #10) by Arietta Richmond

This man does not deserve this woman. Isabella is a warm and delightful woman. Although she connects with him at the ball, he is obvious to who she actually is. He suspects that Isabella is the woman from the Masquerade, but doesn't want it to be her because of her merchant class birth. She is hurt by the Duke's attitude toward her, but she knows the real man inside. She doesn't know if she can reach him, so instead of chasing him, she loves him without him realizing that she is doing it. Fate has a way if intervening and the Duke's almost fatal accident at the gate of her family is it. I've enjoyed all of these books, but I think I like Isabella the most and the Duke the least of all the heroes and heroines. Maybe, I feel that the author could have gave this woman a better husband. In this case, it's the woman who makes the man.

A Duke for Christmas (Hearts and Ever Afters) by Joyce Alec

This is a book about selfishness and how it effects others. Charles was wrapped up in himself and his pleasures, that he cast away old friends and endangered a woman's life. Isabella is in danger and comes to Charles for help, but he sees her as an inconvenience and gives her a servants room and asks her to help the servants and stay out of the way until he can talk to her. Isabella is angry and calls him out over it. I like the way the author made Charles see just how selfish he is, and makes him regret his actions. Whether these two fell in love or not, would not be a great as the change that Charles makes to his life. It is this change that actually allows Charles to know that he loves Isabella more than himself.

The Man of My Dreams (Surrender to Love, #1) by Stephanie Aviles

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I really enjoyed this book. The interaction between these two was so intense. The actions of Elena were based on hatred of a man whom she saw as a bully. She actually did things to make him angry with her to get back at him for his attitude towards her and for him trying to get her to do his reports. His actions were based on his attraction to her and him being an officer and her enlisted. He thought he was protecting her, but he was actually just making her life more stressful. Seven years later, they are working in the civilian world and she lands a job where guess who is working. Things begin all over again, these two should have just let things go, but that would have made the story really short. As for the ending, the author should have ended when they finally get together. The epilogue made no sense.

A Holiday Delay: A Love in the Vines Holiday Novella Kindle Edition by Delancey Stewart

I found two covers for this book. The first one is on Goodreads and the other is on Amazon. I like Amazon's. I been in plenty of airports, but I've never been snowed in one. Finding love in an airport would not be safe, but these two seemed to click from the moment they met. Brogan is self-assured and knows what a woman needs. In case of Dixie, it was a chocolate cupcake. They make their own little Christmas in the airport while waiting for the airport to open back up. This tale is heartwarming and just a little bit scary.

I'll Be Home for Christmas (Cupid's Bow: The Third Generation Book 5) by Melissa Storm

This heartwarming tale actually has a bit of a shiver to it. Being trapped in an avalanche is not my ideal way of spending Christmas. Burr!! The way these two spent getting to know each other was humorous, but scary. You'll enjoy this tale, but you'll want nice warm blanket over you while you read it.

A Soldier's Love: Mail Order Bride (Brides and Twins #1) by Natalie Dean

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I loved this story about this couple. Molly watched the plantation where she was a housekeeper die during the Civil War. She becomes a mail-order bride to one Jim Turner in Texas, the same name as the son of the plantation owner's son. James goes to Texas after being incarcerated in prison in the South. He believes he can never go back to his plantation, because he has been living in darkness since his imprisonment. This story will warm your heart and make you believe that all things are possible with love.

Taming the Rancher: Mail Order Bride (Brides and Twins #2) by Natalie Dean

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story is funny and entertaining. Bonnie meets her mail-order husband sitting in front of the feed store half naked. (no shirt, no shoes) and acts like it perfectly normal. Zachary is marrying to please his mother, but has no intention of changing his ways. I love how Bonnie handles his grandmother and him. Taking her position from the Book of Ruth, Bonnie uses all her feminine weapons and follows her husband. Needless to say, Zachary finds a strong women whom he can love and admire.  You'll love this story and all the main and side characters are well developed.

The Wrong Bride (Brides & Twins, Book 3) by Natalie Dean

Rating:  ⭐⭐
This book made me a little angry. Will Henry is a good man and did not deserve the damage the author inflicted on this man. He wrote to a woman whom he was already developing feeling for, but the woman's mother won't let Elzbieta marry the man she planned to marry and packs off her sister, Kasia for Will Henry to marry who got pregnant out of wedlock. This is wrong on so many levels, I can't even begin to name them. The story is well written, but I can't believe that Will Henry would transfer his affections to Kasia as easily as the author suggests. I can believe he would marry Kasia, because that's the kind of man he is, Good. And poor Elzbieta forced to give up her dreams by her over-bearing righteous mother, who wrongs both daughters and Will Henry without regards to anyone's feelings. God should have a special punishment waiting in heaven for this woman, and it's not the pearly gates. This is not the act of a Christian woman, but a religious fanatic who has no idea who or what God is. I've read the previous books and the author has developed all her characters well, but this book was a disappointment because the author truly failed Will Henry.

Married to a Marquess (Hearts and Ever Afters) by Joyce Alec

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story has an interesting background and a man so selfish, he marries to gain his fortune and then dumps his wife in the country and never sees her again. The woman, Alice, was a mouse of a woman till she had to live 3 years alone, only writing to her mother once a week and seeing her parents once a year. She gets the courage up to go to London and go into society under a different name so she can publically humiliate him. Instead, she gets something she didn't expect. This book is heart warming and will leave you with grace in your heart.

Evlon (Zenkian Warriors #1) by Maia Starr

The author does her best in describing this race and beginning a story. This story is not a love story. It is sex plain and simple and the woman who is made a slave takes revenge on her own race and the rebels that live on this planet. This race is obnoxious and would be better put down as dogs for they are nothing but animals in human form.

From New York, With Love: A Feel-Good Holiday Romance (Magnolia Harbor) by Sophie Mays

This quaint romance will feel your heart with love, family and the Christmas spirit. If you are feeling a little blue, this book will lift your spirits and bring a smile to your heart.

Keecha (Rathier Warriors #1) by Stella Sky

This book dealt more with the relationship of the couple, than being a first book for this series. We know almost nothing of these aliens by the end of the book. The story was good in itself, but lacked a description of this race. What is a claim and what does it mean? These men are oppressive and I can't imagine being in love with someone like that. I would have killed the alien for the deception that he played on me, or I would have made his life so miserable that he would have taken me back to earth. Great sex isn't worth being treated as a lesser being.

Christmas of Love (Long Valley #3.2) by Erin Wright

This story touched me, as I was bullied in school. Like Ivy, I left for the military as soon as I graduated. I understand why Ivy hid who she was, but to hide herself from her family was completely wrong. I loved Austin and understand his hurt when all is revealed. Fortunately for me, my husband was my best friend first before we fell in love. Those of you who understand what someone goes through that is bullied knows the heartache and pain that is inflicted on one's self esteem and soul. Erin Wright wrote this story knowing the pain that is inflicted upon our souls. Ivy learns to rise above her past and reach for the one thing that heals our soul, love.

Dragon Of The Prairie (Exiled Dragons #13) by Sarah J. Stone

This is a wonderful story, although parts of it are a little stilted. Angus and Margaret are great together, but there are things that seem a little too easy. It is probably because this is the first book I have read in this series. The one thing I wish this author would not do is say things that allude to the future. Somehow it takes away from the surprise of the story and lets you know that something is coming. Life is not like that, it happens in the moment with no warnings of the future, unless you are a seer or go to one. This series has great promise and I look forward to reading others in the series.

Kind Ella and the Charming Duke: A Historical Regency Romance Book by Bridget Barton

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is a charming Cinderella tale set in Regency, England. Instead of a wicked stepmother we have a wick stepfather and his two bratty daughters. His only concern is to get his daughters married off, and he goes by any means to do so. Ella hates this new life her mother has made for her and decides to become a watcher, but her heart can't bear the evil that is being done to the Duke. This is a full novel with a little extra if you finish the novel. The extended epilogue is worth the reading. You'll be charmed, angry, and thankful that there are good people in the world to overcome the evil that we see around us.  Thank you, Bridget Barton for such a lovely tale!

Lazan (Rathier Warriors) (A Sci Fi Alien Abduction Romance) by Stella Sky

I read the first book in this series and I wasn't too impressed with this race of aliens. The author hasn't clearly define the laws of this civilization.  This book introduces the mating laws of Yala, and Lazan breaks this law with the human they found on Hexa, because his brother who is a narcissistic jerk overrules Lazan and just claims the woman against her wishes. I am hoping for more out of these men and we got some out of Lazan, but these women are supposed to be super smart and allow these men to take charge. Although, there were some sequences in the story that Mila tricked Kerglan into doing something by acting over submissive. Me, I would have snuck one of their weapons away from them and killed them while they were sleeping. I hate oppressive men.

Simon (The Clan Legacy Series) by J. S. Striker

Talk about a good woman to mess up all your life plans, Robin is a witch who has been friends with Simon and partnered with him on missions. She is back after 5 years, and she is now a grown woman, but Simon has grown too. I liked the love story between these two, because just like my husband and I, these two were best friends that turned into love. I think the cover could have been done differently, because it doesn't really reflect who Simon is, but somehow gives off a false impression. Don't let the cover stop you, because the story is action packed and you will love the characters Simon and Robin.

Runaway Christmas Bride by Isabella Hargreaves

This was an amusing little novella that brought a smile to my face. Running away from her desperate parents, insulting someone to their face unknowingly, then running away unknowingly with the prospective groom made for a delightful tale. You'll smile and delight in Amelia's escapade.

Hinterland Book 1: The Wolf's Bounty Paperback by K.T. Harding

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is an interesting start to a series. We are introduced to an underground world below earth called Hinterland where all kinds of beasties and monsters live. The best slayer Knox Bishop is looking for an apprentice. He invites Raleigh thinking that she is a man. Raleigh knows how to fight and Bishop is impressed. He is also emotionally all over the place and even a woman has a hard time keeping up with him. He must be Bi-polar. I think I'll keep reading to see where this story is going to go. I like Raleigh because she is strong, independent woman who knows what she wants. She want to be a slayer and she wants Bishop.

Once Upon a Duke's Dream by Ellie St. Clair

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is a good read and the Duke of Carrington held my attention. A serious man who works for the foreign office and grieves this best friend who was shot once they reached English shores after escaping France. Isabella is woman is trying to get away from her stepbrother. She fears he is scheming something with him pressuring her to get married, and she is right. The attraction between these two is immediate and Bradley finds a capable and intelligent woman. The only thing I don't like about this book is how Isabella doesn't think she is enough for a duke. She is a member of the peerage, she is wealthy and she knows how to run an estate. She does feel the scandal her father had gotten into when his business failed in England before moving to France will be enough to put him off. Especially, when she finds out her stepbrother is a traitor to the Crown, she really gets down on herself.  The problem is I hate self-pity and it makes the heroine somehow seem weak when she is clearly not!

Love Letters from Cowboy by Lacy Williams

This story moved me in that what was tragic for one women, gave her the greatest gift of all. Someone whom has loved her all his life, but never had the chance to show her. This man wrote letters to her that he never mailed to express his love and life to her. The loss of her arm has her coming home, and a man sees this as an opportunity to make her fall in love with him. This story is full of heartbreak, love and hope. It shines a light in a dark situation and brings a couple into the light of love.

Bold Surrender by Judith E. French (The Triumphant Hearts Series)

Ashley Morgan was a woman who was more suited to the west for that time period. But her grandfather raised to run the plantation and so she decided she would never give up control. Along comes Kelt Saxon to become overseer, because Ashley can't get sea captains to deal with a woman. As Kelt and Ashley get to know each other through working together and their misadventures, love develops. This story takes you on some heartrending  and truth revealing adventures. The story is compelling and I stayed to the end.

Under Heaven's Shining Stars by Jean Grainger

This story is amazing. These three boys are as different as night and day, but they bind at the secondary school that they are attending. They grow up three different ways, but it is love for each other that keeps them together. The heartbreak and disappointments that life gave them would have and could have broken any one of them, but it was their friendship that saw them through. Although this book has some heavy theological issues in it, I feel that the author captures the heart of what keeps each of us whole in this life that we live, love.

Nykon (Zenkian Warriors) (A Sci Fi Alien Abduction Romance) by Maia Starr

The drawing on the cover is misleading, because these aliens are blue. The story is well developed until the ending. Although, love between these two is contrived in the author's mind. All I found between these two is lust and a pregnancy. This is the first book, I have read in the series.

Resurrection Island (The Resurrection Series Book 1) by A.K. Koonce

This has an interesting background in the other side. The darkness of the character, Remy becomes clearer as we learn about the Island. Remy knows he has done a great wrong to Alexandra but he can't stop, because her soul calls to him bringing him towards the light. It took me about halfway into the book to actually to begin to like it, because it took me about that long to realize what Resurrection Island actually is. Will I read the rest of the series? It depends on where the author wants to take this. To be honest, I am quite content where the story ends.
