Touchdown on Love (Texas Tornadoes #3) by Lorana Hoopes

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is a witty story about an injured football player and his therapist. The characters are lovable and caring. This is a second chance for Clara and Mason. As Mason past comes to his present, Mason decides to conquer his injury and make Clara his future. It's a wonderful story of redemption and second chances.

A Rebellious Heiress For A Stubborn Rancher by Evelyn Boyett

Rating: ⭐
First of all, the title alone is a mouth full. Second, Mazel is a little nuts. She goes ballistic over the Jake not telling her about his wealth, but she is not telling him about her wealth either. She is two-faced and a coward. As soon as she wronged him, she should have at least fessed up the next day, and apologized. But no it is drug out, so his mother plots to get her son a divorce and have him marry another. Now, there is mother-in-law that ought to be drowned. She prefers scandal so she can get her way. The writing is good, but I disliked the story, and all the female characters. I liked Jake and even felt sorry for him up until the end. He was a worm in his mother's hand.

The Price to Pay for a Duke's Love by Aria Norton

Rating:⭐⭐⭐
I understand the whole thing about keeping his bride away from her brother, but he never explained it to her. She tried to explain her brother's problems, but the Duke would not listen to her. This is typical of males who always think they are right. Once the Duke decided to make peace with his bride, because he was falling in love with her and he wanted heirs, he actually started listening to her concerns about her brother. This story is short and I am appreciative of that fact. I couldn't see this going on for 80,000 words. It's not the author's best, but it was okay for a short story. You also can only get this story if you subscribe to the author's newsletter.

A Forgiving Heart (Seasons of Change #2) by Kasey Stockton

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
This story is based on something that happened with Kate was nine years old. There is a lot of intrigue going on, but in reality we are looking at the situation from a madman. The older brother who was helping his older brother bully his little brother grows up to be a responsible and honorable man who regrets his past actions. His younger brother has fed his hate of the his two elder  brothers and tries to make a relationship with Kate, because he believes she understands him, because she helped him that day of the incident. It's about forgiveness and how the heart is affected by it, or the lack of forgiveness. The story takes some breaks from reality, and exaggerates the hate that Martin carries. Kate is a little too naive and assumes that Peter and Martin are not the boys from when she was nine, although they have lived there all of there lives. In story writing and plot, it is just okay.

The Undercover Resort Billionaire Clean Contemporary Billionaire Romance (A Falling for You Clean Billionaire Romance, Book 1) By: Chelsea Hale Narrated by: Jennifer Jill Araya

This story is based off of Undercover Boss from TV, except it ends up in a romance. The Boss goes undercover to discover what his Uncle wanted him to see, only he discovers that his uncle wanted him to see something different. Callie is the catalyst to him seeing the dilapidated resort in new eyes. This story is light in the fact that it's like a TV show, but goes more into the depth of feelings, expectations and opens the CEO to that the old can be just as good with new paint.

Fire Maidens: Rome Billionaires & Bodyguards, Book 3 By: Anna Lowe Narrated by: Kelsey Osborne

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I am really enjoying this series, and this story does not disappoint. There is great action and very intense at several points in the story. The characters are wonderful. I wasn't sure from the previous books whether or not I was going to like Sergio, but I ended up loving him. His acceptance of his fate was immediate and I believe that is because he is a wolf shifter. It follows with what we have learned about the different shifters in this world. The only point I didn't like was her changing into a wolf shifter too, considering she is a dragon shifter. This point is quite confusing and there is no real explanation for it. It doesn't take away from the story, but leaves my mind wandering. The narrator is the same as the first two and she gives the same powerful performance as the last two.

Cowboy Heart (Historical Western Cowboy Romance) Longren Family, Book 3 By: Amelia Rose Narrated by: Cecilia Bax

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story is about choices. Do I choose the man who makes my heart race? Or do I chose the one who shares my soul? This is the choice Kitty's heart has to make. First of all, the only time Robert ever showed interest in her was when he had time for her. The real test comes with the ranch on fire, and Luke is the one that is by Kitty's side. He is the one taking on the task of making sure she is all right. It seemed to me that Robert was more concerned like the other ranch hands of saving the ranch and running with the herd when the time came. I don't think that the author really let her character make the choice. The story is excellent and the action is hard hitting. You are right there in the middle of the fire with all the chaos that is going on around you. I think the author could have done better with Kitty's love life.

Three Daring Matches Made in Heaven: A Christian Historical Romance Collection by Chloe Carley

Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
There are three different stories in this collection.

His Stubborn Sweet Bride ⭐⭐⭐⭐
First, I have to say that this is some very good writing. The whole premise of the story is just wrong. An Englishman raised man running a ranch in Colorado and a woman who is desperate to runaway from a man who conned her. The only thing I don't get in the book, was when Nate found time to start falling in love with Maggie. She conned and lied her way into his house, then left when the guilt got too much for her. All I felt from Nate the whole time is anger, we only found out he felt desire for her when she was standing on the steps all cleaned up, and that was at the end of the book. My only wish is the author spent a little more time on the cold fish, Nate. It would have helped the flow of the story better.

Her Prodigal Cowboy ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is a new look at the story of the Prodigal Son set in the late 1800's when the train connected both sides of country together. The younger son takes his inheritance and goes West to make his way as a homesteader. Walter the older brother does everything to keep Arthur and the woman both boys have been vying for attention from since they were young.  I was awed and inspired by the author's attention to the older brother's heart.  It was one that didn't recognize what love really consists of and considered anything or anyone he wanted a prize or possession. The younger's heart knew love and though his sins were many; he found redemption even through failure, because he knew he couldn't go it alone. This story touches the heart, mind and soul.

Love Behind Enemy Lines ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is a Revolutionary War romance. It centers around Jamestown, Virginia and how two people find love on the battlefield. One is a nurse who has dedicated her life to nursing the soldiers and the other is a man wanted for murder in England. George was framed for murder and ran from the authorities. Lizzie was a nurse with a much too generous heart. George finds salvation for his heart and soul. Lizzie finds there is more to live for than just saving soldiers. I didn't realize that this is a companion book to "The Secret of Her Guardian Sailor" until the very end of the story. The extended epilogue for this book brings both stories together. I loved this story, even though it included the ugliness and savagery of war. It's an example of how with courage and love, we can overcome.

Marry You (Finding Love #2) by Joanne Dannon

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This has to be a lawsuit and a nightmare to boot. Especially, since Serena drugged both Phoebe and Oliver. I'm disappointed that Serena never got what was coming to her, and the media didn't get a hold of the whole scam that Serena played on them. Serena should have been so drowned in lawsuits that she would have needed to fold her designer business. This would have been the justice that Serena deserved. The fact that these two were probably destined for each other should never weigh into the facts. Evil should not be rewarded and Serena was rewarded with no consequences. The only justice that Serena received was that they stayed married. Which is not much justice, because it gives her free reign to play in other peoples lives with evil intent again.
Our main characters are wonderful and their story well written, but it lacks real resolution.

When the Earl was Wicked (Forever Yours #5) by Stacy Reid

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is a fun romp, where we find a woman who thinks what she wants in a man and fights for it. James is challenged by her request to learn how to fight. Unfortunately, James finds himself falling in love with Verity. Verity is falling in love with him, but fights those feeling, because of the kind of man and reputation that James has. I love the interaction between these two. Let's face it! How can our rogue, James not fall in love with someone who is as daring and courageous as Verity. Instead of trying to get her father to change his mind, she is determined and prepared to defend herself by learning to fight.

Daring to Start Again by Grace Clemens

Rating ⭐⭐⭐
This story is about escaping the life you have been leading to a hope of a new one. I was disappointed in the cowardice of Sarah when she discovered that her family had found her. The ending was disappointing and tragic. You know forwarned and armed is better than being blindsided. Cowardice is not a trait I want in a spouse, but obviously Bobbie doesn't mind because his daughter loved Sarah. Bobbie deserves better from a woman than secrecy and cowardice.

Shane's Bride (Mail Order Brides of Texas #3) by Kathleen Ball

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is a story of healing and overcoming shame. It's about recognizing the pain and looking forward to a future. It's about a very patient sheriff and a woman who was terrorized by a vicious Indian tribe. It's about how the town saw her and small minded people, but most importantly how Cecily saw herself. This story is excellent and the author doesn't minimize Cecily's pain. Shane helps Cecily to see herself through his eyes, eyes filled with love for a beautiful woman, no matter what she has been through, maybe even because of it. Cecily shows a strength of character regardless of what she has been through, and no matter what other people think about her. This story is inspirational for women who strive to overcome shame and deprecation.

A Sleeping Beauty for The Marquess: A Clean & Sweet Regency Historical Romance Novel by Fanny Finch

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This title actually intrigued me. I started comparing it the story of "Sleeping Beauty". So our sleeping beauty is Aurora, the daughter of the Duke of Thornbrook. The Prince is Percival, son of the Duke of Follet, who studies in medicine. The curse is a poison, the needle is the pin of a brooch with the poison on it. The villain is a spoiler. I like the authors vision of how Sleeping Beauty plays out in Regency, England. The ending is quite drawn out trying to solve all of the couples problems before giving them HEA.

Lucky You (A Pine Ridge Romance #1) by Holly Stevenson

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is a light-hearted romance about one billionaire & one down on her luck girl. Although as read this story, Paige's life seems to be turning around now that she got her new job in a realty company. Drew is not the new bank employee like Paige thinks, but the actual bank owner. This story gets sticky in a few places, but as far as I can tell either Paige is very forgiving or realizes her luck in the fact that she has attracted a billionaire or she is an airhead. The story is good for those times when you want something light to read and don't want to think to hard.

A Lady's Search of Love and Redemption: A Historical Regency Romance Book by Aria Norton

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
This story starts out with the belief in a curse that may or may not exist, because two women in the family that didn't marry before the age of twenty died. This story shows the tragedy of forcing women to marry before they are ready, and telling and retelling stories to put fear in these women's hearts. Anthony on the other hand has a secret that has been wrongly placed on him, but even Beatrice's parents are willing to consider marriage of Beatrice to Anthony. Beatrice and Anthony have to find a way to bring the wrong on the right person, so that can be together. The problem is that the right person is Anthony's brother. This story is well written, but sometimes it's seems a little long winded to get somewhere. I actually lost interest at least twice while reading this story.

Lord Shallow (League of Rogues #2) by Eileen Putman

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story starts out in the mind of a man who hates society, and is trying to stay out of the marriage mart. He clicks off time in his head so he can make his appearance as a Duke, then get out of the ball. He preens himself like a peacock and puts useless thoughts out to his peers. Like everyone in the world we learn the man has secrets to keep. Due to the miner's strike in his territory, he goes home to help resolve them. Unfortunately, he saves a boy and girl from some drunken miners, and discovers another headache he is going to have to deal with, one Gwynna Owen who claims to be his Uncle's daughter. She has fairy tales in her head and daring dreams in her heart. These two together initially are trying to each other, but Sebastian is duty bound to find out if Gwynna claims are true. During their travels, they find each other intriguing as Gwynna discovers the deep depths of Sebastian and he discovers his heart. This story is well written, and has it hilarious moments. The story is totally enjoyable once these two meet.

This Time with Love (The McKinleys #1) by Kimberly Rae Jordan

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story starts tragically when two people meet after 6 years apart. The story goes on to define the lives of the two before they met again. Both have changed, but Anastasia, now Staci lives in fear that her life will go back to the way it was 6 years ago. Eric finds out that she had his daughter 5 years ago, but was born with a form of dwarfism. His life has changed significantly since he became a Christian after being held hostage in the Middle East. There lives cannot move forward until Staci forgives Eric and learns to trust not only in Eric's new heart, but her own. This story is painfully tragic and emotional that I shed tears for the pain and fear that ravages Staci. Eric applies 1 Corinthian 13 to build a new relationship with Staci, but forgets to use the most important words until he doesn't think there is anything he can do to salvage his relationship with Staci. This story is very emotionally charged, but the ending is almost like the author is promoting her next book. It left me with something foul in my soul.

Prudence's Mystery (London Temptations #2) by Joyce Alec

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
When I first started reading this story, I found that it was going no where, until the death of Lord Yardley. It was then that the intrigue and mystery began as the plot thickened. As Felix and Prudence try to solve the mystery of the box, they fall in love. It's the end of this story that is truly disappointing, but it is the villain of the story that let's me down.
