Above All by Rebecca Brooks

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐
Casey falls for a man who is eight years younger than herself. At thirty-four, Casey knows who she is and what she wants. She also knows that the city life is no longer what she wants. She falls in love with Ben, but is just graduating from chef's school and is unsure of what he wants. He knows he wants Casey, but he keeps her his dirty secret from his parents. His choices after his promises to Casey make him slime in my book and I feel Casey deserved better. The ending was written to make Ben look better than the selfish and childish boy that he is. The story in itself is well written, but I kept yelling at Casey, just get on with your life without him. He's no good.

Lawfully Wild: Inspirational Christian Contemporary: A K-9 Lawkeeper Romance (K-9 Lawkeepers #6) by Ginny Sterling

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This series has been wonderful and Ginny Sterling delivers with "Lawfully Wild". These law men are the best of our police force, with their lovable dogs. You'll feel for Melanie and fall in love with Jason. This story will make you realize how dangerous a policeman's life can be.

The Alpha Wolves of Myre Falls Box Set: A Paranormal Shifter Romance by Anastasia Chase

Rating:  ⭐⭐
I will have to say this series is serious lacking. I'm not even sure what the first two books have to do with the last two. Although a second book character appears in the fourth book. This series left me confused and serious let down. None of the stories are well written.

The Deception of Consequences by Barbara Gaskell Denvil

 Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story is set in Tudor, England. It starts with three dead bodies in an attic. It adds in the Anne Boleyn's situation, a lawyer, a cheating cousin, a pirate's daughter and a man tired of court and prefers to look into mysteries. Love and intrigue are in the air and Jemina is caught in the middle. Some parts of this story are hard to read through, but in the end the mysteries of the three bodies in the attic will be revealed. The dead bodies are not what is important in this story, but the characters who have lived in this house. It's been awhile, since I've read such intrigue while everyone is trying to keep themselves alive either from thieves or the king's hangman noose.

The Scandalous Saga of the White Lady: A Historical Regency Romance Novel by Hanna Hamilton

This is a story about three couples who are all connected to one another in some way. The villain of piece is the Duke, Percy's father, who pushes Percy to marry money. The woman, Percy loves only has a dowry of three thousand pounds, but the grieving Repington sisters have just inherited a mansion and a hundred thousand pounds. This story is a farce at times and made me laugh at the stupidity of the sisters and farce of Percy courting Anna. I reminded me of Shakespeare's "Mid Summer's Night Dream".

For Serenity's Heart: A Mail Order Bride Historical Western Romance Book by Aurora Hanson

This is a great cover. The story is well-written, but it touches on a subject that is quite taboo. I'm not sure how everyone got their happily ever after. It seems that everyone in this family is quite forgiving, especially of all the lying that Serenity did. Then to betray her benefactor, for his brother is beyond the pale. Yet, the author wrote it so everyone just fell in line, and ended up happy. The author seems to think feelings are all that matter, when love is a choice and we choose whom we love, not whom we desire.

Manha (Warriors Of Ition): A Sci Fi Alien Romance by Maia Starr

This story is kind of sappy. Rescue the human, fall in love with the human and have her stay with you for the rest of your life.  There are fairy tales written better than this. I'm not sure why I still ARC for this author, maybe I just like the torture.

The Frontier Gambler's Lady: A Christian Historical Romance Novel by Chloe Carley

Rating:  ⭐
This story is somewhat extremely exaggerated. From Kate and Doc's escape after winning $25,000 and leaving on the train going west. How the bounty hunter suddenly caught up with Kate and Doc is ridiculous, causing Kate and Doc to separate for ten years. Judge our villain of the story still carrying a torch for Kate, and thinking she would go to him willing. Everything claiming that this is a Christian book is beyond belief, because God rarely makes an appearance and the antics that these two participate in is certainly not Christian. The only thing I can say is that it is clean.

Shadows & Secrets (Lick of Fire) by Jane Hinchey

This book is filled with secrets, and is action-packed. Rae's not comfortable in Maxxan and Johnathan is determined to keep her there. This scenario is quite funny and kept me entertained until the real action started. For a dark series, this book is quite light-hearted.

Earl of my Heart (The Lambourne Legacy Book 1) by Victoria Oliveri

This is a deeply emotional and action-packed romance. The ugliness of the Earl of Huntsbridge's life comes to the forefront as it conversely effects the woman whom he wants to make his countess. It shows the madness and depraved effects of the life he was living with his friend, Lord Grayson. How ruined a woman can become in Regency society, by the games licentious men play with societies innocent women. This story is not light-hearted, but emotionally charged. It made me extremely aware of the depravity our society plays with and the damage it does emotionally to its victims.

The Viscount Forgotten (Lords of London Book 3) by Emma Evans

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We find in this story a Viscount with a sordid past, and his friend foisting his ward on him so his friend can go on his honeymoon. The problem is that he is already falling in love with Sophia, and this puts him in a tentative position. As in all good stories, the past comes rearing it's ugly head in the form of one Lord Cardan. Here the the author does an excellent job of writing intrigue and secrecy into the story. It also deals with the intricacies of divorce in the Regency Era.

The First Street Church Romances: Books 1-3 by Melissa Storm

These are the first three stories of the the First Street Church Romance series. All three books are deep and involved emotional subjects. We find through grace and love individuals and couples come to learn the meaning of grace. All these stories are well-written and the couples are lovable and share a sense of their individually and love of God.

Small Town Beginnings: A 3-Book Sweet Romance Collection by Melissa Storm

Each of these books is book one of each series. I've read all but the last one before, but each book is a superb story with lovable characters. My favorite is "Where There Is Love". I have loved all of the books in this series and highly recommend them. "Love's Prayer" touches on suicide and depression. It shows how love can conquer these emotions. "Must Love Music" is light-hearted and is a spin-off series of the dog sled series. It shows how compromise and love can enhance your life and dreams don't have to die if you do.

Bruins' Peak Bears Box Set; Volume 1 (Bruins' Peak Bears #0.5 To 5) by Sarah J. Stone

This series is well written and develops the characters. What these stories lack is a conclusion. It also fails to take in previous characters personalities when the author reintroduces them back into the series later on. These elements are essential for a series like this one.

At First Sight (The Sheriff's Daughters Book 2) by Karen Sommers

This story enforces the importance of being yourself. Amanda is a tomboy through and through, but her sister Sarah is always trying to make her into a girly girl. Amanda's eyes finally looks at a man, and wants him just as much as she wants his horse. This story is humorous at times, and heart wrenching at others. I know Amanda and her heart to like a man, but wanting a man for your own. I enjoyed this story, but I thought it could have done with out the barn scene near the end.

For the Love of a Duchess by Bridget Barton

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐
This story starts out as a nightmare for Eliza. Her father sells her to a Duke in marriage to save his estate, even though she is engaged to a baron's son. Her fiance then refuses to marry her because her father is penniless. She has to marry a man 35 years her senior. Her husband after 3 months of marriage starts accusing her that it is her fault she is not pregnant yet. It only gets worse from there. Enters Daniel, the duke's attorney, who put himself in the way to save Eliza from being harmed. I've never quite read a novel like this. It is well written and thought out including traditions and society's rules are taken into consideration. I continued reading this book just so I could see how the author was going to write her way out of the predicament she had these characters in.

Tempted by the Viscount (Shadows and Silk #2) by Sofie Darling

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is an in depth novel into the lives of one cantankerous woman and a suspicious viscount. He can't keep his eyes off of her and she knows someone who could ruin his daughter. Love may come at a cost if this game isn't played right. This story is enjoyable to the end.

Karek (Warriors Of Ition) by Maia Starr

These aliens are insane. This series is completely stupid and the fact these aliens lose all sense over one female is ridiculous. The only good point in this is the politics of these aliens is clearly defined.

Tap - A Love Story by Tracy Ewens

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I've read a few books from this series, and I have to say this one is the funniest. I love Cade and his sense of humor. Sistine is a riot with her ability to live on nothing, til her electricity goes out. This story had me laughing and crying, and just a little mad at Cade at the end.

Lawfully Wanted (The Lawkeepers) by Jenna Brandt

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is well written story and the characters Levi and Abigail are perfect for one another. Abigail is going to have to stand up to her father if she doesn't want to marry the man her father has planned for her. What is more ashamed is the monster that her father has become. I enjoyed this story and didn't put it down until I was finished.

Trail of Fears by Sara R. Turnquist

This story broke my heart and made me think about the choices of bad government when we vote for a man for popularity over substance. The characters in this story are well developed and evoke emotions I wasn't aware I had. This story is a must read for those that want to know what really happened to the Cherokee when they were forced marched from their homeland in Georgia to the government's promised land across the Mississippi River in the dead of winter. It not only includes the Indians, but what was happening in our government. How the decision of the missionaries to stay with the Indians and walk the "Trail of Tears" effected their families.

The Duke's Hellion by Julia Sinclair

I don't think hellion is the proper word. Georgina is an independent and free thinking woman in Regency's times. Here we see a woman who has actually grown from her past mistakes and accepts who she is despite what her father or anyone else thinks about her. She cares about her family's reputation and that means keeping her past mistake a secret especially with a blackmailer hounding her. This gives Tristan and her a second chance, even when she thinks he will never forgive her. This story is well written and the mystery blackmailer was even a surprise for me.

Love Can Wait: Mail Order Bride (Sweet Western Hearts) by Ruby Hill

This one's a little different. It is more of a mystery than a romance novel. It has a surprise ending and can be intense at times, something different for a mail order bride novel. It is well written and held my interest til I finished the story.

Not His Dragon (Not This #1) by Annie Nicholas

This is a very humorous story about shifters. In this book, we get a taste of the world with shifters being known. Dragons are rather off putting creatures, especially when they find a she dragon. You'll get the "Not" in this story and it will definitely make you laugh.

Spark (Tempest Beach, #1) by Tracy Brenton

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story has a little bit of mystery, adventure and romance. Alex comes home to her brother in a coma, and his apartment occupied by Jake Lawson. Alex tries to help out her brother, but the further she digs into his business, she find out how bad things are and they keep getting worse. At times, I wanted to slap Alex and other times I just wanted to say stop digging. Note to the author: Tom has the worst security agency ever!

Lawfully Challenged (The Lawkeepers) by Ginny Sterling

I enjoyed this story and it is very well-written. I love the K-9 aspect of the story and how well Cindy learns her dog and does her job. Her instructor and new boyfriend has to overcome the fact that Cindy is a law enforcement officer and the field can be dangerous. This is a reverse of most stories of law enforcement and had a very natural take.

A Rogue's Flower: A Smithfield Market Regency Romance (Book 1) by Rose Pearson

This story actually inspired me to anger. Anger at men, who treat women as objects, and manipulate them to reach their own objective. Andrew Radford is such a man. The fact that Elspeth takes away his man card does not bode well for the Viscount. Nor does Elspeth finding out who her family is and the ruthlessness of her grandfather. This story makes us think about how we treat people and try to manipulate others to gain our way.
