The Advocate's Betrayal The Advocate Series, Book 2 By: Teresa Burrell Narrated by: Meghan Kelly

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I really got into this story. First of all I live in San Diego and I know where everything Teresa Burrell describes. It's like I'm racing down the I8 right along Saber. These books are as good as J.D Robb and the audiobook is just as exciting. Unfortunately, I knew who the murderer was after the discussion of their whereabouts on the night of the murder, and I was seriously hoping I was wrong. Getting into Betty's and John history really kept me involved and the action with JD is stunning. Although, I'm worried for that man, the concussions that man takes!

The Advocate's Conviction The Advocate Series, Book 3 By: Teresa Burrell Narrated by: Laurel Schroeder

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I liked this story but I liked the reader from the second book better. The story starts slow and gets a little repetitive at times but it it worth it for the climax. It’s a heart stopper.

The Advocate's Dilemma The Advocate Series, Book 4 By: Teresa Burrell Narrated by: Laurel Schroeder

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I enjoyed the book tremendously. It kept me on the edge of my seat. The characters are wonderful and I love JD. He's the gentleman we all dream about. This story makes us question what is right and wrong, but how do we do what is right and keep wrong from happening.

The Advocate's ExParte The Advocate Series, Volume 5 By: Teresa Burrell Narrated by: Laurel Schroeder

 Rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story centers around the background of one dead judge. His day leading up to his death and the investigation into his career. It unfolds a ring of Vietnamese prostitution ring and a deadly street gang. The story held intrigue, but there were times that the book kept repeating itself. I wish I could say that it added to the book, but it actually took away from my enjoyment. I did like the story and I would never want to be in the middle of a drive by shooting.

The Advocate's Felony The Advocate Series, Book 6 By: Teresa Burrell Narrated by: John Bell

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I loved the story because it is well-written, but the Reader's voices for JP and Bob were horrible. He uses no emotion when he does JP and uses an Arkansas accent instead of a slight Texas one. Bob sounds annoying and definitely not a voice for a successful lawyer. All the female ones are terrible. The only good one is Ron's. The story is intense and who Gina actually is is not revealed til the end of the book. Note: I knew at the beginning, the signs are all there.

The Advocate's Geocache The Advocate Series, Book 7 By: Teresa Burrell Narrated by: John Bell

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐
This story is kind of a let down from the others in the series. Although the narrator is getting better with the reading or maybe he is just getting comfortable with the characters. I'm not seeing the JP/Sabra relationship going anywhere, because JP is a slow meandering cowboy, going nowhere. This story seemed like a break from the usual goings on and the work that Sabre does. It seems as if Sabre is no longer able to focus on her career. The activity of Geocaching is a fun pursuit, but maybe Sabre should take up crocheting, so nobody can hack her account and send her on another murder case out of her jurisdiction.

The Way to Capture a Marquess's Heart: A Historical Regency Romance Book by Bridget Barton

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is a friendship to romance story and the plot is well written. The characters are lovable and interesting. There is quite a bit of drama and a major secret abounds. I enjoyed this story and also read the extended epilogue. It's good, but I could have done without it.

To Be His Lady: A Regency Romance (Finding Forever Love) by Diana DeHaven

Rating:  ⭐
I must say I was not impressed with this story. This Lord Harrison is a "Rake". He is rude and has no respect for the servants. How Alice could finally give herself to this man is beyond me. The man has no honor and takes advantage of the staff in his friends home. Alice is just a seamstress and why this Lord Harrison would fall in love with Alice is beyond me. Personally, I feel this story failed to convey any real feelings that these two should have had for one another.

A Western Love for an Unexpected Bride: A Historical Western Romance Novel by Etta Foster

This story is unusual in the fact that Mary is quiet, shy and rarely stands up for herself. She lets Emmanuel do all the fighting and taking charge. Doing what she was told, her employer's daughter sends her out to Utah to marry a man the employer's daughter was writing letters to. Emmanuel takes her to meet the man and then bring her back, but she is so wrapped up in servant mode that she allows Emmanuel to continue west while she waits for the next train east. While the characters differ, Mary needs someone to tell her what to do. Emmanuel needs someone who will devote themselves faithfully to him only. Unfortunately, we only see one instance where Mary defend herself, then she lets talks herself out of a beautiful future because she saw Emmanuel talking to his old flame. I loved Emmanuel's character in this story, because he overcomes his heartbreak by sitting back and actually seeing the relationship for what it really was. I liked Mary and she is someone I could be friends with, but this character needed to grow more than she did in this story. The story and plot work well together and keep you on edge to find out what is going to happen next.

The Advocate's Homicides The Advocate Series, Book 8 By: Teresa Burrell Narrated by: John Bell

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story is very intense. It pits two timelines and engages the past and present to find the real killer. This story engaged me as I tried to figure out who the real killer is, as a young innocent boy is sent to jail for killing his abuser. This story had more emotional punch than the last couple of stories, but that is probably because the subject is an intensely emotional problem we have in this society. The narrator does an excellent job with the voices and engages you quickly into the action.

Intercepted by Love: Part Three The Quarterback's Heart, Book 3 By: Rachelle Ayala Narrated by: Chris Abell

 Rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story is about the dangers of Hollywood and how they can damage your life. Andie is dealing with jealousy of Cade's baby mom, her boss, her supposedly ex-husband & getting him to sign two year old divorce papers. Cade is at a loss with the discovery that Andie is married, and that her divorce papers got lost in the mail. His baby is being born and the earth shattering news he receives. Andie can't take anymore of Hollywood and panics when reporters mob her car. This story is really action-packed, but it only the prelude to what is about to happen. (Cliffhanger #3). There is nothing charming about what is happening in this story, and the overwhelming ugliness of Hollywood is truly revealed.

Intercepted by Love: Part Two The Quarterback's Heart, Book 2 By: Rachelle Ayala Narrated by: Chris Abell

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story is about Andie trying to fit into Cade's life. She makes blunder after blunder, but she doesn't know the truth about her Hollywood historian research position. Cade tries to keep track of his baby mom, while trying to make his relationship with Andie work. This story ends with Cliffhanger 2. The story is still charming as these two clash and come together.

Intercepted by Love: Part One The Quarterback's Heart, Book 1 By: Rachelle Ayala Narrated by: Chris Abell

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story is funny and charming. This story is a cliffhanger and this goes on for 6 books. Both characters are lovable, and this the story so far is charming.

Fire Maidens: Paris Billionaires & Bodyguards, Book 1 By: Anna Lowe Narrated by: Kelsey Osborne

I really liked this story. Both the heroine and the hero are wonderful characters. Some of the shifter world has a lot to be desired, it seems the older you get the worst your personality becomes. I enjoyed the action that happens right from the beginning of the book. The narrator was good distinguishing voices, making the story more enjoyable. I seem to understand the dragon, wolves, and even the gargoyles behavior, but the vampires seem mysterious. They're  behavior doesn't match up with anything they say, and what do they really gain, but some power from some blood they drink which will probably burn out after their body consumes her blood in their veins. It seems like a waste to me. The only drawback on the book is the pity party that Tristan keeps having. Here is where Tristan fails as a self respecting dragon, as he lets his Fire Maiden talk the King of Dragons into letting her have a mate of her choosing.

Rewriting the Rules By: Morganna Williams Narrated by: Jack Calihan

This story really made me think about what being a submissive really means. I think that what a submissive thinks is love is not the definition of love, but of a need inside her. Although I don't approve of this kind of lifestyle, I now have a better understanding from the submissive's point of view. I agree the wrong type of male can do a lot of mental damage, but my understanding is that it's dangerous to just let anyone have this kind of control. For me, this is not a love story, but an emotional relationship that describes what goes on between the Dom and the submissive emotionally, and how it feeds a need inside that person. The story is excellent in itself. The use of a male narrator was an excellent idea, and it wasn't as shocking with the vulgarity coming from a male's voice.

A Love to Come Home to: A Historical Western Romance Book by Aurora Hanson

All the characters in this book are wonderful, except for Jasper. This man carried a big burden in his heart and projected on to everyone. His anger was great when his parents died, he passed that anger onto his real father who tried to make amends for abandoning him. There are extenuating circumstances, but the real guilt of him not knowing about his real father lies with his mother. This story confuses real feeling and Jasper all of a sudden makes a full recovery by the time he gets back to Baltimore. At this point, I'm confused and am thinking the author doesn't understand what emotions run through someone in this situation. Ethan is an exceptional friend, but Jasper is real needy and asks too much of Ethan. Yet, Ethan is so wonderful that he is willing to give up the woman he loves for Jasper, "not in the real world".

Selina is so concerned about being the son her father never had, until she finds out about Jasper. There's a point where Selina is jealous of her father's attention to Jasper and it is well understood. He getting the attention, she always wanted and wished from her father. Ethan shows her the advantages of being a woman, but refuse to step in Jasper's path to his family. The truth is Jasper is so angry, he blames Ethan for wanting his half-sister and interfering in the relationship to his father. That he doesn't see the real truth and that is Jasper is the one who is not trying to fit in. I'm rating this story down, because some of the emotions put forth don't really fit in with what is going on.

The Art of the Scandal by Suzanne Tierney

This story is whimsical and funny. Both our hero and heroine are outrageous. If two people ever deserved each other, it is these two. It is because no one else could probably stand to be with them in the same room. The chemistry is hot and both are very passionate about the art. This book brought tears to my eyes as some of the scenes are very funny. I enjoyed this story very much.

Highlander's Hidden Destiny: A Steamy Scottish Historical Romance Novel by Maddie MacKenna, Cobalt Fairy

Feargan is a fool, but a wonderful protecting fool. His first bout of foolishness is when he tries to tell Charles not to attack yet. The second is wooing the betrothed of the man who hates him. When Amelia is kidnapped and Feargan finds her. He doesn't take her back to her father, but takes her to his home in the Highlands. So, I dubbed Sir Feargan the Fool. Don't get me wrong, the story is full of action and the chemistry between Feargan and Amelia is felt. It's the sister though that makes this story, as she does everything to see her sister Amelia happy.

A Bride for Brynmor (Songbird Junction, #1) by Jacqui Nelson

I read through this story, but I wish I hadn't. I get lost several times during the story and was bored half the time. The rest of time is spent running from her singing manager who is money-grubbing, sad sack who would sell his mother to get an extra dollar. Unfortunately, the story doesn't stick with the initial plot and gets sidetracked somewhere is Junction. This one is better left alone.

A Foolish Wager (The Spinsters Guild #4) by Rose Pearson

This story is the age old game of men playing games with women. Unfortunately, this time Oscar gets caught, not only playing the game, but so does his heart. Lady Amelia is destined for spinsterhood with her limp, but a group of women help her self esteem. This story is delightful, but I think Amelia forgives too easily. Oscar wasn't made to pay with some serious time away from her. This would have done her self esteem much better. This story is worth a smile and a delightful time caught in a book.

Saving Grace (Enchanted Keepsakes #1) by Aubrey Wynne

This story takes place in two time period, 1705 and 2006. It's about Grace Sherwood who was convicted of witchcraft, survived a ducking and spent seven years in jail. In 2006, Chloe runs from her ex-husband who tried to burn down her business. She meets Jackson after buying what was called a witch's ball from a Enchanted Keepsake shop. There's a saying that if something catches your eye and you buy it there it will lead you to your true love. This is the day that she meets Jackson. The story meshes the story of Grace and Chloe together. The climax is exciting and very dramatic. I enjoyed this story very much.

A Love Thicker than Blood: A Historical Western Romance Book by Aurora Hanson

This story delves into an extreme of jealousy that makes men and women dangerous. There is nothing uglier than jealousy. It blackens your heart, eventually it changes your personality and eventually it will even show in your features. Jess is beautiful because she carries love and looks for the good in others. It's why Cooper would have known something was wrong and discerned the personality change. No matter that you may be the perfect copy of someone, you can't hide who you are. The plot and story are awesome. There is also some very intense action.

The Secret Diary of a Magnificent Lady: A Historical Regency Romance Book by Aria Norton

This story tries to be whimsical with it's twisted plot, but it fails. Instead we get a woman who finds herself upset that her Henry is engaged, but confused, because all of a sudden Henry is paying her an extreme amount of attention. She starts to think Henry is a rogue. This gets the story of her love for Henry (her diary) to take a walk into Henry's hands. This becomes very serious even as the author tries to make light of a heartbreaking situation. The author makes light of Matilda's humiliation and does not really address it. The plot works and the ending practically writes itself, but the humiliation of the private thoughts of someone should never be made light.

Finding Faith In Love by Evelyn Boyett

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story starts where Ella is at her darkest. Jasper, her childhood sweetheart seems to have abandoned her. The cowboy next door is trying to marry her and she senses something not right about him. Two to three times a week, she has to drag her father home from the saloon, try to care for her brother and sister and take care of the house and ranch. This story describes the darkest of an alcoholic's family and the terrible burden it puts on his loved ones. It's sad that such tragedies had to fall on Ella before someone reached out to help her or the rancher next door making moves on Ella for Jasper to do something before he lost her. The plot has small hole in it with the rancher's behavior, but works itself out with the town people in the end. I had to stop reading this book at several places, because it took me to some dark places I didn't want to go. Nevertheless, the story gets intense in the last half the story and maintains this pace until the end.

Departing: A Thrilling Romantic Apocalyptic Series with Aliens (Earth's Only Hope Book 1) by Joynell Schultz

This story is surprisingly in depth and the action is intense. The only problem with this story is I don't like the humans in this story, including the heroine. The problem is they are all criminals that only care about themselves. The aliens are looking for a new home and the planet they seek is rumored to have their enemies aboard. They are using the humans because the weapon their enemy holds won't effect human hearing. The plot is excellent, but I felt the author could have soften the relationship between the alien doctor and our heroine.

The Mystery of the Iron Duke: A Clean & Sweet Regency Historical Romance Novel by Fanny Finch

I loved this story. It is written in Gothic style and fascinates the reader. The greed of her parents at times is too much to bear. And the Duke, if he is win his Duchess comes up with a plan to discredit her parents and force them to allow him to marry Catherine. Catherine and Benjamin come to love through understanding and compatibility.

A Knight to Dare: (The Valiant Love Regency Romance) (A Historical Romance Book) by Deborah Wilson

I just love this series, and this story is no different. This is General Astger story. Vita is extraordinary and quite different from most women. She has been taught not to be herself. She is not like other ladies of the ton and this is what Remy sees. She is bright, intelligent, witty, chatty and childlike. She dares much trying to find her mother, but only arouses the Duke of Van Dero's suspicions. He assigns Remy to scare Vita from the Duke. Only Vita's curiosity and her audaciousness to find Lord Dunn (Remy in disguise) cause a serious chaos to arise against Vita and the Duke of Van Dero. This is a great plot and a wonderful story.

Montana Heartbeat by Vella Munn

This story could have been great, but it spent more time pondering the Crows future then actually telling a story. There are times I actually became bored, and wanted to just put the story down. I was actually curious how the author got these two together. The ending is not a surprise, but it doesn't answer alot of questions either. The plot is excellent, but the story itself is lost in boring pondering.

The Warrior Princess (Made for Each Other: The Dragon Shifters Book 3) by Renee Carr

Rating:  ⭐
Spoiler Alert! This is the third book in this series. This story is not as good as the first one. It's okay. There's lots of action, but it's not all that intense. It makes Joshua look like a weak dragon and his 1st in command even weaker. In fact, these two should be dead, because they are obvious poor fighters and the author pulls one out of her hat to save these two. She goes on to make them a shared king and queen, because Nathaniel is too emotional to continue on as King. Realizing they are actually too weak to be King & Queen, she brings back John and Sarah the original King & Queen. This plot is weak as the characters and this is truly a disappointing story.

Taming Her Cowboy Billionaire (Brothers of Miller Ranch #5) by Natalie Dean

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story goes beyond the depths of girl tames boy. It's about understanding the depth of a person. The good, the bad and the ugly in each other's life. As each other comes to understand and help each other with the ugly in their lives, a love grows that binds them. This story is inspirational to those whose who feel the ugly makes them unlovable. This is a lie that we all most overcome.

Highlander's Captive: A Historical Scottish Highlander Romance Novel (Highlanders of the McCall Clan Book 2) by Barbara Bard

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Declan is young and impetuous. It's his failing. Catherine will escape because of him. To prove to his clan, he is not a failure; he runs after her to bring her back. The only thing that is going to save Declan is the fact that Catherine loves him. This story is powerful and tells us foibles of being impetuous. Declan, I like him, but I wanted to smack him for his foolishness. Catherine, I understood not wanting to be a captive. Her problem was naivety of the situation and her father's grievance again the Scottish. It's a story worth reading about the sensitivities of war.

Love on The Grand Tour (The Unruly Duchess, #1) by Sunny Brooks

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story is a lark, and romance is the theme. Both don't want to fall in love, but there is Italy and all it wonders. Cecilia and Frederic have no idea what hit them, but Cecilia must decide to live the life her Father wanted for her with the man she loves. Or throw love and the life back in her Father's face. Actually, if you think about it, it not really a decision. Pride is one thing, but if that pride could ruin your life. I'd throw it out the door. The characters are wonderful, if not a little shallow. There are no real depth to any of the characters in this story, but that's okay. It makes the story have a more whimsical feel.

A Knight of Vengeance (The Valiant Love Regency Romance) (A Historical Romance Book) by Deborah Wilson

This is a very poignant story that delves into one of our darkest arenas. Crazy is a relative term, and in regency England it was a way to lock up those you love whom you didn't want society to know about. Unfortunately, Lady Elys was deemed crazy because she refused to marry someone whom she saw kill his previous fiance. It became a game between family and the killer who was going to get her out of Bedlam after her uncle who was the overseer of Bedlam passed away. Lord Nicolas Childs is her family's protector only he falls so hard for Elys that he plans to keep her. The problem in this story is that no one considers what Lady Elys wants because everyone believes her to be crazy. I'm of the mine that we should always consider what the one we love wants despite believing they are crazy. This story points out that fact very clearly and loved it more because of it.

A Love to Heal a Broken Heart: An Inspirational Historical Western Romance Book by Lilah Rivers

This story is supposed to be scripture inspired, but honestly, it got real preachy and I know that Christians do not talk like that. A lot of the sermonizing was long and took away from the story. The plot is excellent and the story flow well along that plot. I could have done away with the extend epilogue, because Deputy Doyle's revenge plot was too much. In the end, what was Giles motive for actually trying to get Jodi back? His reasons somehow got lost along with his supposed Christianity and a real reason is never given.

Love's New Beginning (Second Chance at Love #3) by Claire Colby

I liked this story. It's hard giving a person a second chance, so it must have been doubly hard to give Finn that third chance. This time though it's going to be harder for Finn to runaway. 😃
This story is about opening your heart again, knowing things could turn out the same and hoping for a different outcome. It's a dangerous game, but sometimes it can be won.

Hit-Man Protector Daddy (Alpha Dragon Club) by Abigail Raines

I've liked this series, so far. I was skeptical of this title, because I really don't like gangster books. Jesse takes the protection of his mate seriously, although she is carrying another dragon shifter's baby. He goes as far as to destroy his boss because his boss sent him to do a hit on Laura. The good thing is that Jesse belongs to the Alpha Dragon Club and they seem to balance out the dirty part of his life. I would have like to have seen some of the characters from the other stories in this book. It would have given it more of the series feel.

A Treasure Brought by Fate: A Historical Western Romance Book by Lorelei Brogan

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Lyla is a hard woman and one that has had to guard her heart so she could survive. James has just learned to open his heart when he takes in an orphan. He asks to keep this woman's nephew, but doesn't understand her reluctance to raise her nephew. I liked how Lyla came to love her nephew and James, believing that there could be happiness in her future. When her ex-fiance comes to town and tries to force Lyla back, he becomes a true villain and an evil force that James will have to overcome. This story has a lot of heart stopping action and held me riveted to the end of the story.

Christmas Kiss: But Only for the Holidays by Joanne Dannon

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐
My problem with Leo is his self righteousness. It's a real turn-off. Jenna is self indulgent, but she is capable of change. The fact is that these two are what each other needs. Why do people ever try to plan things that try to deceive other people? Two things are bound to happen; one, things are going to blow up in your face; two, you are either going to fall in love or hate each other forever. This story needed more emotion to bring the plot to a satisfying finish.
