A Rebellious Lady to Love: A Historical Western Romance Book by Aurora Hanson

This story deals with a woman who is very spoiled and cannot think beyond her own wants and needs. Boyd is trying to save his family. With all that is going on and the dangers of Willie's secret, they learn to overcome their faults, even if their marriage was made in lies and deceit. This story is intense, and our villain does not show his true colors until he realizes he lost the race to marry Willie. Each character is well thought out and and their backgrounds match their personalities.  Some parts of this story will keep you turning the page until the scene is over. I enjoyed reading this story with it's intense scenes.

Crumbling Up Crooks (Little Dog Diner #5) by Emmie Lyn

Danielle is about to get married to her fiance, Luke. When she goes to get their rings, she finds a dead body. As she tries to prove her friend AJ is innocent and there is no cloud hanging over their wedding. It is chaos and mayhem, while interviewing all the suspects and trying to get ready for her wedding. This story is just as funny and chaotic as the others in this series. I enjoy coming back and seeing how these characters are getting along.

A Viscount for Violet (The Blooming Brides #4) by Ellie St. Clair

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is actually the first I have read in this series. All her sisters are married and her father wants to marry her to her cousin. Owen Riddlington is a Viscount who is protecting this tavern from the treacherous French. This is a delightful story that warmed my heart. It is enjoyable, even with the stretch between a tavern owner's daughter and a peer of the realm.

Once Upon a Christmas Wedding (The Wicked Winters #2 - Wedded in Winter) by Scarlett Scott, Merry Farmer, Annabelle Anders, Maddison Michaels, Stacy Reid, Emma V. Leech, K.J. Jackson, Amy Sandas, Celeste Jones, Laura Trentham, Virginia Taylor, Celeste Barclay, Elise Marion, Mariah Stone, Sky Purington, Vanessa Brooks, S. Cinders, Ashe Barker, Em Brown, Emily Murdoch, Annabel Joseph, Tessa Candle, Beverley Oakley, Dayna Quince, Linda Rae Sande, Emmanuelle de Maupassant, Elsa Holland

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐
There are 27 short Christmas stories to lighten my heart. There are many of my favorite historical romance authors. Each story brought a smile to my heart.

Love Potions (Warlocks MacGregor #1) by Michelle M. Pillow

This story is hilarious. The hero and his family are ridiculous and each one of them is a little mad. I normally don't read stories about witches or warlocks, but this one was worth reading. There are some serious issues with the story, but the madcap warlocks override those issues, and don't take away from the enjoyment of the story.

A Mail Order Bride for his Montana Heart by Etta Foster

Forgiveness comes with love, and Anna was sure that her sheriff husband would never forgive her for keeping the money she found. The funny part is he never told her he covered up the fact of her finding the money when he returned the money to the bank. Finding and keeping two orphan children also put a lot of stress on their new marriage. Watching these two work through the problems of strangers coming together as a mail order bride brought a smile to my heart. These two both hoped for love in the marriage, but feel they will never find it with all the mistakes that they are making. Story is well written and the characters are lovable and compelling.

Letters from a Missing Lady: A Historical Regency Romance Novel by Hanna Hamilton

What makes me keep reading this author is her ability to write romance from dire situations. There is always intrigue and a extremely evil person in her stories. This story kept me intrigue into how Evelina and Matthew would eventually get together, because they loved as Percy and Elizabeth through letters. I enjoyed the herculean efforts Matthew made to find Evelina. The plot of this story is well thought out and the story follows with well thought out characters and a intriguing story.

Winning Lady Jane: A Christmas Regency Romance (Ladies of Bath Book 0) by Isabella Thorne

This story is romantic in the fact that Earl meets an enchanting lady. It loses that romance when he is already engaged to another woman. I understand that the betrothal is not a love match, but how honorable is it for a man to look at another woman when he has promised himself to another. This is the problem with the English and why they are perceive as cold human beings. They make marriages to continue their line without thought of having to live with this woman for the rest of their lives. The Earl of Keegain  can thank Jane & the traitors for opening his eyes.

A Cowboy Billionaire Best Friend's Secret (Brookside Ranch Brothers) by Hanna Hart

I had a lot of different feelings about this story, most of them are moral issues. After reading the story, I sat down and thought about the issues of the this relationship. It seems to me that although neither Hunter or Rachel acted on their feeling for each other when they were younger. They had not recognized love, when their friendship was an extension of their love for each other. Rachel chose to go with the brother who paid attention to her woman, and threw off her feelings for Hunter always maintaining a confidant relationship with him. Hunter steps aside for his brother and Rachel, because he wants Rachel's happiness. When he finds out about all the pain his brother has caused Rachel, he goes in to protective mode against his brother. The problem is the promise between Rachel and his brother, and moral dilemma of coming between them. I don't question Rachel leaving Hunter's brother, especially since they were only engaged, but four years is a long time to wait to get married. "WARNING SIGN" What I question is how fast Rachel and Hunter finally get together without his family questioning his motives and the guilt that would consume me for breaking my family apart. My final thought is that Rachel should have left Hunter's brother years ago when he did not set a date for the wedding which is indicative of a man not wanting to be tied down to one woman. Although they have their happily ever after for now, the breakup of family is not a hurt that one wants to live with. As you can see, this book is deeply provocative and allowed me a deep contemplation of the depth of husband and wife and family love.

Earl of Darby

I loved this story. Hannah is delightful and the Earl is just a man trying to protect his own heart and bring justice to his dead wife, and all of the lives that the Duke of Colvin has destroyed. It's hard to bring down a peer of the realm, especially a Duke. The problem is the Duke of Colvin has his eye on Hannah, while the Earl is losing his heart to her. There is lots of action and intrigue. Each character is written well and with their own level of personality and morality.

Seduced by the Brooding Duke by Scarlett Osborne

This is a pretty twisted plot. The story has some holes in it, but to be honest; I could have done without the sex scenes. The story would have been better being a clean romance. The scenes take away from the character of our hero and heroine. How they fall in love without any interaction with each other is beyond me. It takes getting to know one another s character and feeling that connection by spiritual, mental & physical means. There is no way these people could have passed off a farm girl as a governess. The woman was a basic reader with hardly any mathematics skills. She also had no idea of what gentlemen and ladies were supposed to act like. The Duke would have known better if he had reviewed her resume properly with her. Like I said earlier, the story has some holes.

Serendipity of Fate by Becky Banks

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story has an excellent plot, and the story is well thought out and written. It is a story of lie, so a man can honor his battleground promise to his best friend. The problem is all of these lies will only hurt the one he loves most, his best friend's sister. I love these two characters, but Cason is a contradiction of his true nature. I feel the author did a disservice to Cason's honor, but Savannah was able to correct that honor in the end.

The Sheriff's Rebellious Bride: A Historical Western Romance Book by Cassidy Hanton, Cobalt Fairy

This story is intriguing and guessing who the murderer is doesn't come until just over halfway through the story. The fear and mess that is Geraldine's life takes on some very tragic turns. The sheriff find himself attracted Geraldine during his investigation of Geraldine's neighbor. This story kept me intrigued and kept me wondering how Geraldine was going to hold it all together. Some thought process in this story are particularly scary.

The Ugliest Man in London: Regency Romance by Charity McColl

This story is a laugh. It is witty and at the same time kind of stupid, but it works and makes for a delightful story. The girls save a man who happens to be a Duke from being beat to death. As the Duke heals, he actually thinks it funny that Matilda thinks she is going to marry him, but finds that he doesn't mind the idea. This story is dominated by strong minded women, who don't want their parents picking out their husbands. Good Luck ladies!

Life Happens - A Magical Matchmaker's Short Story by Sharon Clare

This short story by Sharon Clare can only be found by those who subscribe to her newsletter. The story is quite short and fun. It'll bring a smile to your face and leave you a little happy.

A Beautiful Mess (The Mosaic Collection) by Brenda S. Anderson

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is a beautiful story that is full of hurt and a life that is messy. It's about grace and forgiveness, and how God never fails to bring those that are lost home. This story reaches into the heart and makes us realize just what we are capable of doing or being. Sometimes we are asked the impossible, but it is through our faith in Jesus that the impossible becomes possible. This story beautifully illustrates this point. Life is messy, but beauty can be found in that very mess.

Lusting for the Highlander: A Steamy Scottish Historical Romance Novel by Lydia Kendall, Cobalt Fairy

This story deals with the witchcraft hunters that the catholic church hired. These men were no more than women haters and blamed every problem to come along on women. This particular witch hunter is a very evil man. It is seen in his obsession and that he practice the dark arts behind the churches back. The heroine is a woman hunted, but her heart is in healing with her herbs. The Laird of Henwen cannot help but fall in love with Morgana, when she saves his entire village from dying from the dead bear who polluted their water. This story is well written, and the ending is very dramatic.

From Prejudice to Love: A Historical Regency Romance Book by Aria Norton

This is a well written story with a fairy tale ending. Of course, the Earl is fascinated by Molly, because of her unconventional methods of teaching. Her ways have brought his wards out of their grief and she seems to have done the same thing for him. The story has modern day PC attributes that would not be attributed to in the 1800's. The Irish were reviled by English and Americans alike. The nobility at that time would have never accepted her. She would forever remain in the country with his children. He would probably be removed from the House of the Lords if he was a member. The story is well written, except for the modern attitudes that the story incorporates.

Shimmering Emeralds (Brunswick Bay Harbor Gems #3) by Ann Omasta

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is a story of heartbreak and healing. I found I did not like this heroine. She deserved Luke leaving her for Nashville. She gave him no choice. She deprived Luke of his daughter. She is stupidly selfish. This author could not write the depth of anger that Luke must have felt. The thing is Luke is a beautiful person. He realizes what is important in life and that his why he returned to Brunswick Bay Harbor. This story is well written, but if I am going to hate one of the main characters it's usually the guy. Meg is not worth Luke's time or love, but the heart knows what it wants. It's a good thing that Meg learned from her stupidity is all I have to say.

The Novelist's Rake by Ava Douglan

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐
This is an interesting story with an unusual plot. What would you do if your hero jumped off the pages and became real. I thought a lot about that while reading this story. In fact, it kind of scared me to think that a fantasy man could be real. And would I fall in love with him? This story is very interesting, but I did not like the climax to the book. It actually felt like the author was struggling with the ending to the story.

The Renegade's Heart (The True Love Brides #1) by Claire Delacroix, Deborah Cooke

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story's plot is about true love, and the power that true love has upon the heart. It is told as a Scottish fairy tale with the rules of the Fae and their power in the real world. It contains all the reasons why humans should not accept hospitality from the Other. The story is emotional, compelling and entertaining. I enjoyed stepping back into time and fantasy to the world of humans and the  immoral Fae.

Caramels with a Side of Murder Daley Buzz Cozy Mystery, Book 2 By: Meredith Potts Narrated by: Lisa Beacom

This is the first book in the Daley Buzz Series. This mystery is filled with humor, crazy characters and a little romance. The reader is excellent and maintains the witty repartee throughout the story. Come to Daley Buzz or some good coffee, crazy characters and a good mystery.

Genteel Secrets By: S. R. Mallery Narrated by: Talmadge Ragan

This historical novel sets in the heart of the Civil War. Two people who are opposites meet and find a love that is true. Hannah is blackmailed into helping getting secrets from Union soldiers, while James enlists as a Pinkerton agent. The war and family are against them. When Hannah is sought by the Pinkerton agency, James makes a choice to save Hannah. Getting out of Washington, D.C. will not be easy, but they follow the underground railroad out. How the underground railroad operates is historically correct and I love her explanation of the quilts. It's probably the best one that I've read about. This story is emotionally charged, and sometimes I felt I was right there with James & Hannah.

It Is Well A Novel By: James D. Shipman Narrated by: Malcolm Hillgartner

This story hits you in the heart. The struggles and heartache of loss for Jonathan is heartbreaking, but the how he quietly meets pain and loss shows how we can spiritually gain. The reader is moving and I am left as if his pain is my own. This story left me feeling "It Is Well".

The Zoran's Mate Barbarian Brides, Book 2 By: Luna Hunter Narrated by: Beth Roeg

To be honest, this story is okay to pass time with, but it doesn't have very much depth and neither do her characters. Sometimes, I think these stories are written, because the author has a fantasy about having sex with an alien. This story is typical because the barbarian alien is so lust filled, there is no room for love. Love is not an expression that is actually dealt with in this story. It's more my lust wants that women and I will do anything to keep her, because I am alone on this planet.

Murder in White Lace By: Karen Sue Walker Narrated by: Jasmine Curry

This is fun romp with a designer who loves a good mystery. So when bridezilla drops dead in the shop she works in and her first love is accused of murder, she starts working on her suspect list and tries to hide her investigation from the handsome detective. The reader keeps you interested and does extremely well during intense moments.

Ravishing Regencies: The Complete Series: A Steamy Regency Romance Boxset by Emily Murdoch

These are eight hot stories. I have read four of them and I am looking forward to reading the rest.

Lost With a Lord

I love this cover. It is very striking. The story was well written to a point, but the ending did not finish with acceptability of society. The only good point is the fourth son doesn't have all the social rules applied to him for marriage that is required for the first born. Florence is a spitfire and knows what she wants, that she wants George to want her to stay. She expects George to act like an Italian and George expects her to understand his English ways. Why do people forget that love is a two way communication? This story is great for an afternoon read.

Drenched With A Duke

This is a delightful and steamy novel. Between saving a woman from drowning and secrets told between. Alexander must determine if restoring his lost reputation is more important than loving a woman of the night. I enjoyed this story and read it from start to finish in one sitting.

Shipwrecked With A Suitor

This is a delightful tale of two people who find themselves thrown together by a war across the channel. I loved Helena right off, but Pierre had to grow on me, because he is typical of the French nobility. He only thought about himself and how he felt, never about Helena and he used Helena's feelings. He just up and left with his friend, because he preferred his luxury to what Helena had to offer. Emily Murdoch captured the attitude of the French nobility perfectly. It took a lot for me to actually to like Pierre because I hate charming men. It is their narcissism and arrogance that makes them unappealing. This story is perfect for an afternoon read.

 Catastrophe with a Count

This little romp is exactly as named. The only good thing about the story is that it is in the West Indies. Everything that happens here is beyond the ideals of society. The characters are likeable, but these two deserve to lose each other at the end of this story, even though they do not.

Drenched with a Duke (Ravishing Regencies #2) by Emily Murdoch

This is a delightful and steamy novel. Between saving a woman from drowning and secrets told between. Alexander must determine if restoring his lost reputation is more important than loving a woman of the night. I enjoyed this story and read it from start to finish in one sitting.

Rolf's Quest (A Medieval Encounter #1) by Aubrey Wynne

This is a fantastical tale of Merlin being trapped in the tree, and the curse upon his descendants. Rolf is compelling and has a lot of Merlin's magic. To break the curse, he has to have a woman fall in love with him without magic. Melissa, the woman he dreams about has one issue against him, she is already betrothed to another. This story is action-packed and full of passion. The chemistry between these two is magnetic and the author does an excellent job with that chemistry.

Built for a Billionaire: A Sweet Little Sci-Fi Romance (Dream Droids 0.5) by Joynell Schultz

This guy is a jerk. All his personal problem are of his own making; including his relationship with his droid. This is a fun story and Aidan learns a lot about himself. My only problem is the police used his money to program the droid with a program that could have taken him down. The director of Dream Droids went along with this plan. If Aidan wasn't trying to make this relationship work, he probably never would have let Danika work at his company. Personally, he could sue Dream Droids for an unauthorized program in his droid. I'm sure these droids aren't cheap. Besides this hiccup in the story, the story is enjoyable and fun.

Melting a Duke's Winter Heart: A Clean & Sweet Regency Historical Romance Novel by Abby Ayles

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I love the characters and the plot in this story. It's twisted and endearing at the same time. There's mistaken identity and scandal and an evil father with twin daughters that secretly defy him. This story melted my heart along with the Duke's.

Risky Rules Of A Passionate Governess by Henrietta Harding

This story is dark and very passionate. Lord Garrett is stern and demanding man. He has no compassion thinking he is the only one who can save the dukedom. His arrogance is his undoing. Lady Katherine deserved more from him after intimacy than the humiliation she received when she was accused of stealing. Personally, I would have forgiven him for his rashness and unreasonable accusation. But I could never live with a man who is so un-compassionate and unreasonable. I believe that Katherine is just setting herself up for a unhappy life. Despite my opinion on their relationship, the plot is excellent and the story is written well.

Love Through Trials and Tribulations: A Historical Western Romance Book by Carol Colyer

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Rebecca is one resilient woman, and even when troubles find Rebecca; she looks to the future of better days and perseveres. Seth is a man who cannot get over his past and is ashamed of his bride meeting him in jail. This story has it's up and downs, but like Rebecca it perseveres through some idiotic thinking; mainly Seth's. This story is rather long, but eventually keeps up with a rather good plot.

Teaching His Ward by Noël Cades

The plot for this story is only half the story. It's what he does with his ward after finding out that his runaway ward is the woman whom he became enamored with in London. The story is intriguing while addressing the age difference between these two. Still when one falls in love, age does not make a difference. The problem with our hero is he is cruel. How Jemima could continue to love this man is beyond me. So the phrase "What the heart wants, the heart wants" must apply here. For me the sex scene is a failure, and would probably been better without it.

Cowboys to Fall in Love With: A Historical Western Romance Collection by Aurora Hanson

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This set contains three full length stories about cowboys.

The Courageous Guardian of Her Heart

This story is about a woman who spent her life in the library when she finds out she has inherited a ranch in Arizona. She decides to take the ranch on and encounters an danger with every turn she makes. One cowboy marries her and becomes her protector. When the worst happens to Caroline, will her husband come to her rescue? This story is intense and action-packed. Some of the dialogue of the people in Arizona is weak.

Capturing a Cowboy's Heart

This story is about a woman who decides to come out West and live with cousin Mary. When she arrives her cousin Mary no longer lives there and is offered a job as a cook by Earle Barnett. This story is romantic, action-packed and the chemistry between these two is very intense. I like this story the best of the three.

The Marshall's Second Chance

This book is a wonderful story about friendship and a second chance at love. Mariner is transferred to his home town and meets up with his childhood sweetheart. He find Jenny fell in love with a cowboy who disappeared leaving her with a 4 year old son. These two start working together to help solve some of the problems and find themselves falling in love again. This story is well written and defines a real no holds barred woman. Mariner wants to protect Jenny, but decides that he will be best protecting her by his side.

Sweet Dream Wedding (Sweet Dream Romance) by Misty Shae

The scenario is like a bride's worst nightmare. This short novella shows how a strong woman can overcome a nightmare and move on to know that her dreams can come true. This story is well written and is emotionally charged.

Lady Varney's Risque Business by Cerise DeLand

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is a fun romp and I mean romp. The man she was forbidden to marry years ago arrives as a client for her matchmaking business. The only problem is he only want her. This romp is fun and leads to a happily ever after.

Saved by Faith by Jenna Brandt

Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I enjoyed some aspects of this story. Faith is a woman of faith and love. Nathan is so focused on what happened to him in captivity, that he has lost sight of the future. The story is well written, but how he was delivered from his prison, should have inspired him instead of sent him into the morose of PTSD. Faith knows that the love of God and her love will overcome. Nathan just has to accept his fate and move on to his higher purpose. This story is about accepting our past so we can move on with our future.
