Kisses of a Rebel Rogue (The Duchess's Investigative Society, #5) by Samantha Holt

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is the story of a baker and a scandal sheet rake. It's a story of passion and intrigue. Peregrine and Charlotte will make you laugh one moment and then wonder if they will be alive the next. It's a race to find the man behind it all, especially when that man doesn't want to be found. But for Charlotte, it's all about his kisses.

Corporate Connection by Lydia Hall

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This story is well written with highly developed characters. The problem for me was even though they knew what they were doing was wrong and could jeopardize their careers; they continued in their behavior like animals instead of conscience decision making humans. Although, they fall in love with each other, their decisions in their personal life made me think would I want one of these two as my defense attorney? Still, the story kept me intrigued just to see how this would end. It does have a twist in the climax of the story for a more interesting outcome.

Protected by the Companion ((Ladies on their Own #5) by Rose Pearson

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is a well-written story with a plausible plot. The characters are well-written for a short story, and our hero makes a dynamic character change, because of his niece and her companion. This story is a pleasant read and worth the read.

Her Hidden Beauty by Rose Pearson

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This review is for "Her Hidden Beauty". A Lord's losing a wager, has to pay court on the plainest woman of the season and make her fall in love with him. The problem is that the Lord sees more than just her face. He sees the beauty of her soul. This novella speaks to the heart of falling in love. It a great little novella to pass an afternoon.

Chris (River Valley Lawmen #1) by Cheryl Wright

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is novella about two people pretending to date for the sake of appeasing an old woman. Eventually they fall in love with each other. The characters are well developed and charming even at their grouchiest. It's a quick read and a fully engaging story.

The Duke’s Betrayal (A Lady’s Dream #2) by Alice Acker

Rating: ⭐⭐

This story starts and is engaging until the very end of this book. The climax is disappointing and the ending leaves you bereft of any type of satisfaction. There is book three, but there is an author guarantee that the book does not live up too. Maybe Amazon should take this off the web page.

It's a historical Regency romance novel of 65,000 words (around 250 pages). No cheating, no cliffhangers, and always a sweet happily ever after.

A Miracle for the Duke by Leah Conolly

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Duke is living through a dark time. His wife dies, and his daughter refuses to speak. He finds a governess through his brother's urging. Amelia finds a connection with the Duke's daughter and brings a miracle of love to the Duke's family. This story is well written and there is a lot of conflict. Some characters in this story can barely see past their own prejudices. The world is a harsh place especially in 19th century England, but love prevails when the pain of loss is greater than society's disapproval.

Sweet Do-Over (Indigo Bay Second Chances #2) by Melissa McClone

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is a well written story about second chances and regrets. It's amazing how we second guess ourselves, especially when someone doesn't fit in the role that we want them to fit into. It means missed opportunities and losing out on our own happiness. If the heart is open, love can grow and move us to wonderful opportunities. This is the lesson Marley had to learn to get her happily ever after.

The Bluestocking Brides by Samantha Holt

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

These are four delightful and witty tales about sisters who find the one despite being a bluestocking. Each sister has their personality and all the sisters are devoted to each other. Each Lord has his own personality quirk to compliment the sister they fall in love with. I identified with Amelia and her love of books, and her extensive knowledge of her chosen field. I loved the dynamics between Julia and the Duke. How the Earl doted over Emma's hobbies and the Marquis as he chased Catherine under the stars.

The Truth About the Earl by Rose Pearson

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is a fun and witty story about the truth. Our widow takes on writing about society in "The London Gazette" to supplement her widow's income. Someone discovers her secret and starts blackmailing her to print untruths about the Earl. As she has a tendre for the Earl, she becomes distraught when her friend, Lady Adlay is injured. This story made me smile, and think such antics only happen when someone cannot get what they desire. The story has a fun plot and is a well written story.

Kidnapping Lord Blaymire by Catherine Bilson

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is a warm and witty tale of a woman who wants to decide her own way in life. Lord Blaymire learns that you can’t decide how everyone should live and disregard the person’s wishes for their own life. Love takes a life of its own in this reverse Rapunzel tale. Fortunately, the witch in this tale may just be their fairy godmother.
