Unexpected Love For The Wounded Doctor: A Clean Western Historical Romance Novel by Ember Pierce

Although this is a nice tale between a widow and a doctor, the scenes with the outlaw Jed are unbelievable and these two are really naive or just plain stupid. The passive doctor and the widow who lives on a ranch points guns, but have no intentions of using it. If I point a gun at someone, I intend to shoot. I include the sheriff in this story as being totally useless. Who appoints someone who can't get the job done? These carelessly written scenes detract from the story and should have been made solid, because they are an important part of the story. In fact, these scenes cause the climax to be poorly initiated and instead of holding my breath for the ending. I'm routing for Jed to blow these two away for their stupidity alone.

Titus is called away from his vacation by Ben’s father to find out why Ben is dating some ex-Turkish ruler’s daughter. Titus flies back to D.C to see Ben and gets himself involved in a kidnapping. The story is action-packed and well written. The narrator keeps pace with the story and kept me interested.

This case, Ben is in charge, and Titus takes the case to see how Ben does in his leadership skills. This is supposed to be a simple extraction mission, but Titus tries to let Ben make all the decisions. A third agent, a woman who asks more questions than a small child drives Ben and Titus crazy. This story has an intense climax and a surprise ending. This story really stresses how Titus’ faith is changing him.
 

Crowned by the Midnight Duke by Patricia Haverton

This is your typical Beauty and the Beast story. It is well written, although our heroine is a bit whiny at first. By the middle of the book, I am routing for the Duke and Lady Cordelia. This story is very enjoyable.

This story is about young love and dreams. It’s also about the dangers of being a bounty hunter. The story has an exciting climax, but loses something as it starts to come to it’s conclusion. I felt a disappoint in the climax, but was glad that Cara kept to her feisty self. The story could have been better written, but was enjoyable anyway. Sometimes I felt that the characters spent too much time on “Woe is me”, both main characters were guilty of this. This seems to be a theme in the author’s stories.

 Another hit, this one is more mysterious, yet fun. Of course, I guessed who the real fire maiden is, but not why. This is a great story and the climax is exciting. Tony is a very honorable man and it shows right from the beginning to the end of the story. Cara is into ecology, but Venice is one of those cities that will sink, if it does not make the city work with the ecology of the area.

A Countess Captured for the Captain (Wicked Spinster Chronicles #2) by Ava MacAdams

Our adventurous Duke’s daughter is reckless and ends up on a pirate ship. The captain of this ship is taken with her and falls in love with her on the way home. What these two go through for each is is amazing and proves that love can conquer anything. I enjoyed there adventure together, even if some of the things that happens are a little outrageous.

 This story is a happily ever after for a woman who made a mess of her life and ended up being a governess. This woman learned a hard lesson in humility. The Duke has four children who raise the roof and can’t keep a governess. So the Duke sets off to steal his brothers governess. Unfortunately, for the Duke he falls in love with Susan. Sounds too good to be true, because it is and they are going to have to overcome some serious obstacles.

Boone was the most serene sheriff ever written about . He is so serene that his wife saves him. I don’t know how that man ever made sheriff. Jose was abrasive and I didn’t like her. The story is well written only the characters were not well thought out.

Sometimes I think the author doesn’t remember things from the other books. Especially, about mates and other things that are important to the story. The story by itself is written well and the plot is very good. Because the author has written other books in this world that she has created, this story did not follow the same rules. I think the heroine is a little flaky but that is expected considering her past. The hero shouldn’t be a flake, but what kind of Alpha is so indecisive?
