Courage in the Shadows by Robin Patchen

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is the woman's story that I waited for throughout this series. It is intense and action filled. Lake's history is intense and terror filled. Her partner Grant is a man whom she greatly admires, but never has seen him for the man that God has made him into. As Lake's history catches up to her. Grant and Summer go on a mission to save themselves. The villain is nasty and always a step ahead of Grant and Summer, making the climax exciting and terrifying at the same time. This story will keep you on the edge from start to finish.

Love & Rejection, Evangeline: A Historical Regency Romance Novel (Tillewood Sisters Book 1) by Dorothy Sheldon

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is a unique take on double jeopardy. Is the heart capable of loving two men? The answer is obviously that we will love one more than the other. I like how when she makes her decision, the author never says the man's name again. If you are smart and actually read the story, you'll figure it out and approve of Evangeline's choice.

The Duke's Christmas Ball: Historical Regency Romance Novel (Marriages by Mistake Book 10) by Abby Ayles

Rating: ⭐⭐

This story is kind of romantic, but the plot line has a lot to be desired. The characters could have been written with more depth. The love story between these two is almost nonexistent until before the ball. The Duke didn't really pursue her, but through desired looks and berating himself. To expose himself at the Christmas Ball the way he did, left him open to ridicule and being cut from the ton. The Duke has responsibilities to his land and people, not just himself. This is something that is overlooked by authors, how damaging something like this can be financially to a dukedom. Everyone loves a Cinderella story, but no one conceives the consequences of such actions in the Regency era.

The Duke’s Theatrical Role: A Historical Regency Romance Novel by Amelia Talbot

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is one story that was unexpected. The story plot is excellent and our villains are notorious. Rose is lovable and the Duke is endearing. These two deny their feelings while looking deeply into each other. I'm not sure how they thought they could pull off their scam on the Marquess and the Earl. The truth always comes to light. The Marquess is the surprise in this story with a good twist at the end. The story is enjoyable, and witty with the chemistry undeniable between Rose and the Duke.

When a Highlander Vows: A Scottish Medieval Historical Romance by Maddie MacKenna

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is a great story. The big bad Laird comes to rescue Caitlan. He loses his heart to her beauty and soul. Caitlan is not blind as the description implies, but is severely nearsighted. The world is a blurry mess and lines blur into each other and become indistinguishable. The only thing you can see is things less than a foot from your eyes. The story has some humorous moments and Lucas is unsure of himself for someone in his position. This is the one thing he learns from Caitlan, how to find self assurance.

A Duke’s Lessons of Seduction: A Steamy Historical Regency Romance Novel (Lords of Infamy Book 1) by Maybel Bardot

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

This story has so many character flaws and stereotypes. The story gets really intense towards the climax, but the Duke has no morals by seducing an innocent who is betrothed to another. I get that Lady Diana wants to be in anyone else's arms but Andrew. I wouldn't want to be married to a man like him either. Since insanity runs on that side of the family, I wouldn't want anything to do with any one of them. To be honest, there isn't much of a story here. Just some intimate lessons and a woman killing off the Lady Diana's family for money.

His Cursed Duchess: A Fantasy Regency Romance Novel by Patricia Haverton

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is an interesting fairy tale story, and the Duke is a hero with romantic ideals. That's interesting for a Duke and a man, especially one who has grown up with the strictures of society. He has to defeat a witch and find the cure for the woman who is ageless. There is one flaw with this story and that is the fate of the witch and the lady. Since they are tied to the same necklace, they should have had the same fate. Ah, then we wouldn't have had our happily ever after. Then again, the little mermaid didn't get hers which sends a clear warning about reaching beyond your means. Personally, if I was ageless I wouldn't waste it trying to find true love, but love who I could while I had them. Time is something not to be wasted.
