Wilder at Last: A Steamy Small Town Romantic Comedy (Wilder Adventures Book 5) by Serena Bell

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This story is funny and conflicted. Easton and Hanna have been at each other for years. Hanna asks Easton to help her win the celebrity chef's heart. Yes, you can see where this is going. These two are oil and vinegar with a touch of fiery spice. It's good reading and a lot of laughs.

The Story of his Highland Bride: A Scottish Time-Traveling Historical Romance by Maddie MacKenna

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This plot actually wrote itself. A girl from the future loses everything. She gets trapped in a time vortex and sent back to the early 1700's where witches are burned at the stake. Happens to stumble upon the Laird who tries to save all the women the priest tries to burn at the stake. Ah, love is in the air! This story is actually well-written and the characters well-developed, even our anger-filled, woman-hating priest. Rejection leaves a mighty deep mark on small-minded people. Those of us who are wisdom filled, know better and move on with our lives embracing love.

Sisters of Bethlehem Springs #1 A Vote of Confidence by Robin Lee Hatcher

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The rather daunting Gwen Arlington is running for mayor. The county commissioner thinks he can control her. Her opponent is in love with her, and her family supports her campaign. I laughed and moaned through the dialog and the predictability of the town people. Gwen is your typical woman rights supporter and her interaction with Morgan is too conflicted at times. I guess Morgan likes women that rebuff him. The story is compelling, but the conflict is over done.

The Duke of Strathmore #9 A Lady's Heart Deceived by Sasha Cottman

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is an old fashioned version of a scam artist. Only this scam works in favor of the captain assigned to Maggie's case. Falling in love with Maggie was never in sight when Maggie forces herself into traveling with the captain to find the truth about her fiance. This story is witty and a lot of fun, especially the unexpected turn at the end. There are advantages to knowing people who know how the inside of the military works. How she deals with her fake fiance is disappointing, but Maggie's heart is too soft, even after all the pain this man caused her. The story of her and the captain is one of adventure and fun.

The Ashbrooks - A True Gentleman by M.A. Nichols

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is a well written story with well developed characters. The story and plot fit seamlessly together. Tabitha married the wrong man and ended up working for a living to feed her and her son. There is nothing worse than being married to a rogue. Tabitha is hired to nurse a sea captain back to health. As she helps the captain find his way, they fall in love with each other. This is where my morality comes into play with this story. The author did a good job of keeping adultery from happening, but Tabitha should have informed her employer she was married. This story has a happy ending, but in real life, things would have turned out much worse.

Soldiers and Sweethearts #4 Healing the Earl by Rose Pearson

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is an excellent story about a woman forgotten by her father and man broken by war. As they start out the season, courtesy of Hugh's mother, these two start to heal each other's hearts. This story is very romantic and heart-warming.
