Talk about our hero being scammed! He wants to be an archaeologist and goes to Egypt to make his mark. This story is one big scam for our archaeologist and is conned into marriage. This story is quite humorous, but is also somewhat of a tragedy. I'm not sure the damage done by this woman's family is forgivable, and it would have taken me a lot longer to forgive. Our hero overlooks it all and falls in love with Adelia, but this is where the twist comes in a silly Egypt wish.

Dating a Cowgirl : A Friends to Lovers Western Romance (Callahans of Copper Creek Book 5) by Natalie Dean
Adam recognizes Faye when she barters to get her Mom's truck fixed. Something pulls at him, when she boldly asks for him to fix the truck for free. As they work out the details, their friendship turns into a relationship. Faye bargains with her father's rules to be allowed to date Adam. The father in these stories is a real piece of gruff cowboy work. The characters are well written and the plot falls naturally into place.

How to Choose the Most Eligible Bachelor: A Historical Regency Romance Novel by Sally Forbes
This is a sweet romance that is well written. There are some stalls in the story writing, but otherwise our characters get to where they are going. Happiness seems to be a detriment to high society ladies, as they plot and harm everyone around them and including themselves. Jane is sweet and Owen is a bit naive. Together, they are lovey and endearing. I've seen movies that employed lists for choosing a man, but this is probably the sweetest way to find one. Jane is simple and sweet. Her heart is always in the right place. Owen is pressured by his mother and friend to court Lady Arabella, but finds himself attracted to sweet Jane, his old friend from childhood.

His Scarred Duchess: A Historical Regency Romance Novel by Patricia Haverton
Although this story ends happily ever after, Rose spends too much time on her scar. A man who doesn't care about appearance, but wants a wife as capable as Rose. This story is depressing and self deprecating. Of course, as time goes on the Duke falls in love with her personality and stops seeing her scar. Rose should be thrilled that a man can look beyond her face, but no that is not enough for the self deprecating woman. The plot is very good, but the author does not give Rose the confidence to pull off being a Duchess.

Hearts on Fire: A Cedar Hollow Novella Calliope Dean
This story might have been good, if it wasn't more about the physical relationship than the getting there. Older women who aren't cougars take their time, especially if the man is younger. It is because even men our own age do not have the maturity that a woman carries with her, especially if she has been through a difficult relationship. This story had potential, but should have not been made into a novella.

Curled Up with an Earl (The Byronic Book Club 2) by Amy Rose Bennett
This is a great story and a wonderful romance. They start out as servant and lady, but it develops into a friendship that eventually turns into love. The characters are wonderful and the story is different from most regencies. The ladies that you are introduced to are not debutantes and are not the social norm. The man that would be interested in someone like Lucy is a man that sees the woman within and finds her thought process fascinating.
A Kilted Marriage of Convenience: Scottish Medieval Highlander Romance by Shona Thompson
Fixing to Flirt: A Sweet Small-Town Romantic Comedy by Rachael Eliker
This is a sweet romance with a lot of suggested flirting. Button knows how to do friendship, but romance is beyond this tool belt carrying woman. Deputy Grange may be a great cop, but can't hammer a nail straight. Who knew using tools was an art? This story is humorous and just quite cute with an ill-tempered spitting llama. It's an enjoyable story and worth the afternoon read.

A Musician's Love Song for a Lady: A Historical Regency Romance Novel by Alice Kirks
This is a story about class and love. The evils that visit the children of fathers that ignore their children. A belief that one is better because of social position and the lies and deceit to reach their aspired goals. Lady Isabel wants to learn music like her mother, but her father's grief won't allow music in the house. He relents when she agrees to marry this season if she is allowed to take pianoforte lessons. Her aunt hires Mr. Davenport, son number five of a Duke who chooses to teach music while writing his own compositions. These two fall in love over the music and he even writes a composition for her. He tries to court someone else, knowing she is above his station while a Marquess tries to court Lady Isabel. He only put her off because of his arrogant and belittling behavior. The two main characters are wonderful and the father learns a very painful lesson about withholding affection and forcing his child to obey him. A father has to learn what makes his child happy, and what will pain her to the point of misery.

The Temp Jobs Cozy Mysteries #1 Death Behind the Dumpster K.B. Blake
This is a well written and thought out cozy mystery. Scarlett's life has gone down the dumpster, reducing her to temp jobs. Even still, she is spunky and a little bit pushy with some cowardice thrown in. In this situation, cowardice might have saved her life. It's upbeat and funny at points. I might have given this 5 stars except for the ending It was a little disappointing. I think the author should work on the 2nd book's ending, so the reader is not left disappointed. The reader does not care about a character only described in the book and not introduced.
The Earl's Bookish Bride: A Historical Regency Romance Novel Bridget Barton
This is a delightful story with lots of complications. The characters are well developed and completely lovable. Marianne is the devoted daughter and her father wants her to be settled. Phillip, the Earl of Berkley, is all set to follow his father's death bed wishes until he meets Marianne. Jealousy ensues. Plots are enacted out. Love is greater than all the selfish machinations.
