Tempting the Sheriff Sherwood Forest Shifters, Book 1 By: Anna Lowe Narrated by: Kelsey Osborne, Chris Merlin

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

I wasn't particularly impressed with this series, and the whole thing needs to be read to the end of the series. The story in itself is creative but I feel Robin Hood has been over done, even introducing a woman as Robin Hood. Enjoy the journey if Robin Hood is your thing, I'll be moving on to more creative work.

Six Days Spent A Mylas Grey Mystery (Mylas Grey Mysteries, Book 6) By: Luana Ehrlich Narrated by: Steve Twitchell

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐This story is more light-hearted initially with his helping Wendy find a house in D.C. Wendy is a wonder and how she deals with his work and missing appointments is amazing. The climax is heart-stopping and held my breath waiting for the ax to fall. I loved this story as I have loved the five books before it. I recommend reading this series in order, and fall in love with Mylas a little bit at a time. The narrator's voice, Steve Twitchell, helps as he continues to be the voice for this series.

Two Nights with the Beastly Marquess: A Historical Regency Romance Novel by Daphne Byrne

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is one unique Beauty and the Beast tale. Love starts with kindness and a connection of passion that bends our hearts towards love. Our Beast has PTSD and night terrors, and Augusta is a compassionate woman who only wants to understand her husband. I'm not sure who plays Gaston in this piece; her mother or Lord Rueford. Either of them is a piece of self-centered and greedy evil. This is a tale as old as time, a love that cannot die.

The Bride on Marco Island by Rose Ryan

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Returning home after seven attempts of runaway marriages, Hannah return home to Marco Island. The one man she never gave her heart to was Brad Goddard, her childhood sweetheart. They re-kindle the attraction between them as they come together as friends on her return. This is the only book I've read in the series, and it's the final one. It's well written, and it can stand alone. These sisters find love late in life, but in the end, it was worth it all.

First Kisses and Second Chances: An Opposites Attract Small Town Romance Lily Waters

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is a sweet romance with a second chance. When we are young we make decisions we think are best, but end up regretting them. Sometimes, we get a second chance. Heartbreak and regret are a big part of this novella. It's about reopening your heart and forgiving not only each other, but forgiving yourself. We always remember our first kiss.

The Bedwarmer's Son by Caryl McAdoo

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This story gets to the heart of slavery. It’s a man made evil that preyed on the south in the 1800’s. The story of Jasmine and William Sinclair is a sad love story, but generations later their love for Jesus and family have a way of convicting the heart. Love overcame racism and hatred in this story. Shouldn’t it overcome those things that are in our hearts that are not pure, good and clean?

Carmen De Luca Art Sleuth Mysteries #3 Forgeries and Fatalities Jennifer S. Alderson

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

This story is very slow starting and the murder occurs almost half-way through the story. This is the first book I've read in this series, and although the characters are well-developed, I don't get them. All these people are living the life style of the rich and noveau, and they bicker like little children at an auction. Dave is the only character that I liked and that says a lot, because even though he works for Interpol, he is a beta male. The climax hits the high, and was thankful the story was over.

Returning to Love by Norah Porter

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I love stories of second chances and this one is heart warming. Overcoming the past hurts and forgiving each other is the only way forward. Andrew is wary of her leaving the island again, but doesn’t understand why she doesn’t suddenly want to see him. Jealousy is an ugly monster and it plays into the ex-wife in this story. The chemistry between Hannah and Andrew is intense and Hannah must decide if love is worth working for.

Ralph by Edith Byrd

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

This is a really sad tale about loss and grief. A new Duke who is grieving his brother, hides from his mother and estate manager. Teresa an expectant maid, grieving the lost of her love, while having his baby. Miriam, a baron's daughter, who now lives in poverty because her father lost his money in investments. This story is poorly written about the land agent's move for power. He had to know Ralph would have audited the books after Cooper deciding to destroy everything the Duke was trying to build. I wouldn't have been as kind. I would have taken my books to the magistrate and had him transported.  And besides, a Duke doesn't have to prove thievery, he says it and it is so in England. A Duke or a commoner who is the magistrate going to believe?

Dark Secret Ending: A Suspenseful Psychological Thriller by Penelope McGrath

Rating: ⭐⭐
The promise of a psychological thriller is that it falls short. Most of the time, she is in her right mind. I saw the Jeff thing from a mile away. In fact, so did our leading lady, but ignored all the warning signs in spite of being paranoid. Apparently she is not paranoid enough, for she make several stupid mistakes that someone who is paranoid doesn't make. It doesn't read as well as it could have and the mistakes should have killed her. Also anxiety pills have some severe side effects, but she appeared not to have any side effects from taking them. I never liked Jeff. He was too sweet and our leading lady was too caught up in Kendrick's journal and her memories that it took reading it over a dozen times to figure out the discrepancies. In fact, she was just glad to have someone to talk about this with, but failed to look into Jeff's background. This book focuses on the dark of human trafficking, but really fails to tell truth of the hell these women live. It just shows one person bringing down one ring. The only truth that rings is that Kendrick should have researched who he was going to work for before taking the job.

A Wicked Duke: A Historical Regency Romance Novel by Violet Hamers

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I'm hoping that rivalries like these two families in the nobility occurred in the Renaissance, not in the Regency or Victorian era. Dueling was banned in 1844 and the last duel recorded was 1852. Otherwise, this story is well written and the climax is exciting. Although the epilogue is too long and makes it worse with an extended epilogue available to read online. The characters are well developed and it is established which family has the evil pushing the others in the family to behave with hatred. For Noah and Albina the union of their marriage takes on different aspects, until Albina makes him realize that whatever feelings are between them are real and override the family feud.

A Duke’s Lustful Portrait by Lucy Langton

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Duke isn’t a Duke? The real Duke is a murderer and a daughter is enslaved by her father. This about sums up this novel and the fun just begins. The story is strange. Commoners can’t inherit titles from childless Dukes and evil societies shouldn’t have been so easy to take down.  And it’s just gearing up, giddy up let’s go to France.

A Lady's Poisoned Desires: A Historical Regency Romance Novel by Emily Honeyfield

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Poisoning is an issue especially in this time when doctors were just learning about them and scientists were experimenting. Healers were the ones who knew about poison the best. The shocking truth revealed in the climax is who I suspected the whole time. The evil that came out of that woman’s mouth showed she never had any consideration for anyone else. It’s a good read unfortunately the author knows nothing about the properties of plants.

Snowbound Hearts: A Cowboy's Christmas Reckoning by Kathleen Ball

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

For a short story, this one was pretty good. The last person he expects to see when he wrecks his truck is his ex-girlfriend Iris. Iris allows him to stay with her during the snowstorm. They catch up on each others life and eventually Joe works things out. This story has a nice twist and is a good read for Christmas.

Lord Farleigh and Miss Frost: A Regency Romance (Clairvoir Castle Romances Book 4) by Sally Britton

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This story is told very well and Lord Farleigh and Miss Frost spark upon their first meeting. It's a gentle love story where that initial spark turns into friendship and eventually into love. It's where gentry meets commoner and things unfold with a little help from family. It's a beautiful story and I listened to the audiobook version. The narrator brings the story to life.
