This story was actually two stories. The story in the diary is of a
strong woman who endured what all the Suffragists endured to get the
Nineteenth Amendment passed. The reader of the diary was a lost soul,
who everyone around her was questioning her beliefs. The depression that
ensued from this plus the grief from her grandmothers death compounded
the problem. I understand the issue and the personality disorder that
causes this type of depression. The problem with this story is I didn’t
see the parents confronted with her problem. Parents acceptance of the
issues is a large part of the healing process. I know this personally.
The passion and the anguish were not really expressed until the end of
the story. The truth is I thought the ending of the story could have
been a lot better.
