The Duke is living through a dark time. His wife dies, and his daughter refuses to speak. He finds a governess through his brother's urging. Amelia finds a connection with the Duke's daughter and brings a miracle of love to the Duke's family. This story is well written and there is a lot of conflict. Some characters in this story can barely see past their own prejudices. The world is a harsh place especially in 19th century England, but love prevails when the pain of loss is greater than society's disapproval.
