This a Cinderella story in disguise. Our Liliane is kind and good. Our wicked Duke is very charming. Her stepmother and daughters are evil, except the 2nd daughter, Paulina. She moves to help Liliane when she falls in love with the wicked Duke's best friend. The ending is a bit disappointing, but I'm one for hard judgement on those who abuse their authority.
