Romancing the Dashing Duke: A Historical Regency Romance Book (Broken Hearts' Redemption 8) by Martha Barwood

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

A touch and romantic story of heartbreak and finding a love that brings two people together for true love. There is danger and intrigue and a Duke who cannot make up his mind. Sylvie is intelligent and charming, not only to the Duke but for this reader as well. I don't think 21 years is considered spinsterhood, but the author seems to think it is. A man of means like the Duke wants a mature woman, not someone immature and doesn't understand the nature of his work.

Wicked Brides: A Steamy Regency Romance Collection by Ava MacAdam

 Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Surrendered to the Lust of the Duke ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This story is intriguing and action-packed. Between the Duke trying to save his Dukedom and Teresa trying to save the school; they both find danger and intrigue in courting the Salisbury's for donating to the school. An old evil plot will lead these two down a road of darkness and suspense. It's love that guides these two.

Enslaved to the Seduction of a Lady ⭐⭐⭐

This story started off intriguing but I don't care how inappropriate Luke and Allison are, the Duke and Duchess of Salisbury were disgusting. How they could ever let the smelly and atrociously mannered Earl of Belmont near their daughter is beyond me. The description of him just gave me chills of disgust. If I was Allison I would have wrote a diary of the things he said and tried to do to me every time we met, then left it on the Duke's desk. I also would never had gone about telling the Duke and Duchess about Luke the way that Teresa and Allison did. I see all kinds of wrong with this story, but if Luke and Allison truly loved each other, they would have run off the day they realized they loved each other, or Luke would have gone and sacrificed his pride and asked Lord Dennison to help him. They almost let evil prevail.

Sinful Persuasion of a Lady in the Making ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This story of the three in the series is better than the second book, but doesn't reach the heights of the first book. Between Luke being too concerned for his new respectability and trying to elevate his sister into the ton, Jenny feels out of place and forced to attend balls where so-called gentlemen try to take advantage of her. Viscount Hartman and Jenny meet with him helping her get rid of one of those so called gentleman. Sparks fly, not only in Jenny's house, but in the Viscount's house also. Worst yet, underlying evil plot will take both houses apart.

Kissing Katie (Farm Country Book 1) by Josephine Beintema

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This story is a great read as these two traverse the world of book touring. Katie is now the face of the name JD Emerson or Jackson Davis to his family and friends. I love watching this relationship grow and JD recognizes what is happening between him and Katie. I had a hard time putting this one down.

The Heiress in Disguise: A Historical Regency Romance Novel (Love and Secrets of the Ton) by Abigail Agar

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is your basic Cinderella story. Girl being made into a servant while the relatives steal her inheritance. Prince Charming aka the Marquess comes along and saves the day. That being said; however the story is very intense and dark at points. The love between Angelique and Antoine is deep and abiding. It's one of the best Cinderella rewrites I've read.

Oppressed & Empowered: The Viscount's Capable Wife (Love's Second Chance Series Book 12) by Bree Wolf

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This story shows the trouble someone has with Asperger's syndrome connecting with other people emotionally. It's easier for them to live in a black and white world and disconnect themselves from their emotions. It takes someone who is capable and knows who they are and are connected to their own emotions to connect with someone with Asperger's. When Evelyn finally connects with Richard, he learns to express his emotions with her help, and learns to connect with Evelyn and his family through Evelyn. Love is different for everyone, but is difficult for those who cannot connect emotionally with others. This story shows the possibilities through love, patience and perseverance.

A Winter Baby on Her Doorway: A Historical Western Romance Novel (Hearts Across the Frontier) by Carol Colyer

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is a story about love, family and safety. The story has lots of action but it tends to run on at certain points. The characters are well written and well-developed. The story takes on a life of its own as I read it but kept wondering when it was going to end. The author wrote an extremely long epilogue after the climax of the story.

The Summer of Us by Tori Martin

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The "Summer of Us" is heart-warming as well as heart-breaking. It takes you on a journey of two twins that have come out of remission from leukemia. The bond between these two is deep and the author captures that bond thoroughly. It's a journey of love and recapturing some of the youth that they had lost being sick. It's about family and staying together through even the worst of times.

Shattered Rainbows (Fallen Angels Book 5) by Mary Jo Putney

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The complexity of this story is amazing, yet it all ties together magnificently. Catherine is complex, but willing to do anything for her daughter. Michael loves a woman who is married, yet will do anything for her because she saved his life. The intensity of this story with all the complexity makes this an adventure worth taking.

Rogue's Honor (The Saint of Seven Dials Book 1) by Brenda Hiatt

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A story of thievery and honor, a man pushed to do what he must because of circumstances beyond his control. Lady Pearl is pushy, but she knows what she wants, her only weakness, her father. Luke St Clair is unusually honorable for a thief, but finding out his past certainly changes his future. It's a great read with lots of action, a miserable Duchess, and lots of villainy. Our hero is thief who seeks to win the day.

The Rancher (Redbourne Series #1 - Cole's Story) by Kelli Ann Morgan

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

An action-pack story that touches the heart. A story of grief and despair that turns into hope and love. Cole's grief will touch the heart of those who have known loss and realize that hope is a matter of the heart. I connected with Abby because like her I like doing what is considered a man's work. The heartbreak in this story is how long it took Abby and Cole to actually connect, but the wait is worth all that these two have to endure.

The Earl's Inconvenient Wife (Marriage by Scandal Book 1) by Ruth Ann Nordin

Rate: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This story is heart-rending when Nathaniel totally ignores his wife, even though he is angry at the way her family manipulated him into marriage. Claire is spirited and quite naive. It seems that Nathaniel is chasing after his wife to get her out of trouble. Even through the initial bad start, Claire tries to get her husband to love her. The story is sad, fun at times, and heart wrenching because both of these characters at times act like children in the school room. Nathaniel is 23 & Claire is 16 or 17. The story never really put a definitive story on her age. She is too young to run a manor or really be a wife. She is essentially still a child but Nathaniel thinks she should act otherwise. The story is engaging from start to finish.

A Sonata for the Rake: A Clean Regency Romance (Ladies of Accomplishment Book 2) by Sariah Drake

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This story is a little awkward and our hero accidentally fixes his attention on the sister of the potential bride. These two have a musical connection as well as a physical one. The awkwardness comes in the fact that Anthony was hired to seduce each of the Earl's potential candidates for his wife. The potential between Anthony and Augusta is intense, but it's the reason why Anthony is at the house party that throws everything into chaos. Music is at the heart of Anthony's and Augusta's soul which makes this a wonderful story.

Collision with a Billionaire by Lily Cross

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

This short story is a quick read, and everything happens very quickly. The quick backgrounds as the story progresses are inventive. I personally did not like the billionaire. As far as I was concerned, he took advantage of a young woman and left her high and dry for over 3 months while his lawyers tore her family apart. He doesn't know what love is to leave her high and dry for 3 months then expect everything to be all right. For men like that it's just about power and control. It's an okay read.

Taken by the Highland Beast: A Medieval Historical Romance (Falling for Highland Villains Book 1) by Lydia Kendall

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I loved the story and plotline. This man fell in love with the spirit of his bride. Amelia made many mistakes being she was sheltered till her wedding day, and all the horrid stories she was told about her groom. I like the fact she stood her ground, even being young and naïve. Jack was a man bound to his clan and destined to marry his enemy's sister to stop a war. The action is intense and some scenes literally heart-stopping. It's an adventure of love in treacherous times and in the heat of the aftermath of war.

The Dreamer (Highland Treasure Trilogy Book 1) by May McGoldrick

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This story has it all! A grand love, intriguing family ties and issues, a villain mad with greed, and a maniacal hatred for a family of women. It's a grand start to an adventure where the wildness of the Highlands hides three sisters and their mother with the secret to a great treasure from the greedy hands of a monk.

Becoming Lady Dalton (London Scandals Book 2) by Carrie Lomax

Rating: ⭐

Some authors write about angst and they add to the story. This angst of Viola has driven this reader away. Heroines know what they want. Viola does not. There is no real background to the story and the children are superficial to the story. Heroes don't beg. Piers consistently does to his shame. At least he knows what he wants.
