This story is kind of comedic. The situation with a drunk Lord and a woman's honest feelings. What transpires between Ellen and Lord Hartley is not funny. Lord Hartley is not the rake the author makes him out to have been. He clearly has a conscience and does everything in his power to make Ellen want this unwanted marriage. I fell in love with Lord Hartley trying to make everything right again.
