This novella is about Alice. Alice has been jilted and can no longer bear to face her friends. She travels out west as a mail order bride to marry Braden Shaw. This novel is about her pain and how she deals with it before marrying Braden. I liked this book but the author did not spend anytime for us to get to know Braden. It was really all about Alice. The only emotional connection we can make in this novel is with Alice. The rest of the characters are just stick figures.
