The story and plot are excellent. It's emotionally gripping and sometimes painful to read. The truth in all of this is that Alexandra loved him, not because he wasn't a a baron. It was because he saw her and knew her. The pain of his betrayal literally tore her heart out. Nicolas went into this to save his friends in the East End. He never thought he would fall in love. We find regret has a way of keeping us from asking for forgiveness. When Nicolas's enemies find out he is married, they go after Alexandra. Alexandra is an extraordinary women with the heart of a lion. Nicolas's enemies are going to find out how extraordinary Alexandra is. With Nicolas beside her, she'll be unstoppable.

Tempting the Scoundrel (Private Arrangements #2) by Katrina Kendrick
Highland Fortitude (The Band of Cousins #5) by Keira Montclair
This story is intense and action-packed. The characters are wonderful, but very immature, given their age that is to be expected. There's a maturity to him wanting to marry Constance, but he fails to find out the reason. Like all young men, he assumes it is because he is one-handed. My one problem with the story is that Daniel thinks like a mature warrior, yet he is only 17 years old. If it wasn't for the ages that the author used, I would have given it 5 stars. Daniel's maturity was out of character for his age. We watch Constance grow as she learns that running from her problems is not the answer, and standing for what she believes and wants will get her a long way down the road. I liked these two together.

The Haunted Knight of Lady Canterley by Patricia Haverton
This story is emotionally draining as we experience the madness of grief, pain and anger as it overtakes Amelia. Her sister is kidnapped and held for ransom. The ransom is so steep, both Grace's fiance and her father must come up with the money. This story is heartbreaking, and there is no real happily ever after with the knowledge that this family must carry forward. It seems the only one who can keep Amelia grounded is her brother's best friend, Tristan. Tristan is faultless in his love for Amelia, but Amelia is blinded by a promise made to her mother, that she cannot see what is plainly in front of her. Amelia goes on an adventure of finding her sister that takes her and Tristan to the northern shores of Scotland. Where Tristan does his best to keep Amelia from harm and madness. It's where Tristan recognizes what Amelia really needs: freedom.
The Mail Order Bride’s Rekindled Hope: A Historical Western Romance Novel by Etta Foster
This story is quite redundant and stupid from the point of marrying a lawman, especially a marshal. A marshal doesn't just cover the law in his town, but in the territory. Marshal's had Federal authority to chase criminals all over the country. Polly is quite stupid to stop Edson from doing his job. Then to consider he can't go chasing criminals in his area like bank robbers is ludicrous. This story has unrealistic expectations and we are to believe the lawman is just going to let criminals roam free. There were several times I wanted to slap Polly and say wake up you chit. Polly is so unrealistic that she deserves to be alone for the rest of her life. Polly needs to get over her abandonment issues, because Edson is not the problem; she is. A real lawman would expect his wife to accept his role in life and deal with it. This story wanted to make me cringe for all lawmen everywhere. I say, go get them criminals; I'll be waiting for you, knowing you are making the world a safer place.

Hannah's Rakehell Duke (The Heir and a Spare #4) by Fiona Miers
This story has a lot to be desired, especially our main hero. The man is an abomination to men everywhere. His behavior is irreproachable, and I don't know how a decent woman would stand him. This brings us to Hannah, our shocking American. As a plantation owner's daughter she would have had the grace of any southern belle. She had none. A Southern lady can plant, ride and shoot as well as any man, but in the tea room or ballroom; she is the epitome of civility and charm. Her behavior was the epitamy of Annie Oakley's style of behavior; brash and inappropriate. In fact, the whole story is inappropriate. In fact, Archie should have wrung John's neck and challenged him to a duel. No, he just accepts that John ruined Hannah. The plot is horrendous and the story is without real planning. Hannah just accepts John second proposal. Why? Because he proposed in front of the Ton. The climax and ending are disappointing. Wish I didn't waste my time, but I was hoping for something better to come up.

The Keys to a Lockridge Heart by Abby Ayles
I loved this series. Each story can stand on its own, but together they weave an intricate web.
Melting a Duke's Winter Heart
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I love the characters and the plot in this story. It's twisted and
endearing at the same time. There's mistaken identity and scandal and an
evil father with twin daughters that secretly defy him. This story
melted my heart along with the Duke's.
A Loving Duke For The Shy Duchess
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story is what happens to the sister "Lucille" from the story
"Melting a Duke's Winter Heart". It seem Lucille accepts an arrange
marriage with Duke Crowan to get out of her father's house. She spends
months avoiding her husband out of fear of his reputation. One night
after a dinner gone wrong, neither of them can sleep. Reginald finds his
wife in the library. She asks him what's wrong and he lays his head in
her lap. She allows him this and it changes something in her. From there
Reginald and her begin to build a friendship based on respect. What
Reginald has unleashed is a veritable tiger. This story continues months
after where Sarah's story ends, but we find that Lucille is actually
more courageous than her sister, Sarah. Sometimes all a person really
needs is the freedom to be themselves.
Freed by the Love of an Earl
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is a very intense story. Although, Edmund has loved Margaret for as long as he can remember, with his estate in tatters, he never hoped to marry her anytime soon. Blackmail has risen its ugly head, and Margaret needs to marry and marry wealthy. Edmund offers marriage when he learns that Margaret need to marry quickly. Both fail to tell each other the issue with their finances, and things proceed to quickly go downhill. I found Margaret to be selfish and arrogant to believe that she could handle things herself. The blackmailer was asking for more than the worth of her father's estates. The story is very intense, and the plot is definitely intriguing. It seems to me that Margaret has no common sense and could have prevented Jerome Colbourne from escaping if she wasn't more worried about Edmund and the Ton finding out about her birth. Of course, we wouldn't have had the thrilling climax. In this case, the story is great with the same wonderful characters from the 1st 2 books, but I have a hard time abiding stupid women.Freed by the Love of an Earl by Abby Ayles

Netherfield: Rogue Dragon: A Pride and Prejudice Variation Jane Austen's Dragons, Book 3 By: Maria Grace Narrated by: Benjamin Fife
This is the third book in this series and is just as wonderful as the first two. Elisabeth will do anything to save Pemberley, including marry Mr. Darcy. Mr. Bennet must face the fact that Elisabeth will not be taking care of Longburn, and Mr. Colins is to marry her sister, Mary. There is a rogue dragon in England and Darcy and Elisabeth are called by the Blue Order to find him, and bring him in, while John Fitzwilliam has been ordered to kill him. The narrator is wonderful with the climax of the story, bringing it its exciting end. This series is a must for dragon and romance readers everywhere.
Longbourn: Dragon Entail (A Pride and Prejudice Variation) Jane Austen's Dragons, Book 2 By: Maria Grace Narrated by: Benjamin Fife
This is an exciting tale and gives us a small history. We find that the kind Mr. Bennet isn't as kind and loving of Elizabeth as we imagine him. He conspires with Longburn to force Elizabeth to marry Colins. When Colins unknowingly kicks a dragon, Elizabeth runs to London to be with her Aunt. Meanwhile, Darcy is dealing with an Aunt who thinks she know what best for everyone, and Pemberley is suffering. The twists and turns this story takes; makes for a marvelous story and for you wanting to know what will happen next. Benjamin Fife, our narrator keeps the story going with his dramatic voice characterizations.

The Marchioness Who Tempted Fate: A Historical Regency Romance Novel by Hanna Hamilton (Goodreads Author), Cobalt Fairy
This story is unusual that it has many twists and turns. The ending is surprising, although I know that Lord Ronald was evil. It made sense since he kept coming down on his nephew about petty things, and getting mad about firings of staff that deserved to be fired. This story steps outside of society, but I don't have much issue with that since the Marquess himself is an outsider in his ways and thinking. They would have called him a Radical back then. The dialogue was good between our main characters and Marcus was right in making Tiffany leave after the attempt on his life. It protected her from Lord Ronald and put her under protection of the retired Constable Brown.
Northern Realm Royal Dragons Prequel: Shifter Short Story by Lisa Daniels
This story introduces to the Dragons of the Northern Realm. Where a princess find a hurt man and proceeds to heal him. We learn about human shape shifters that cause damage to themselves every time they shift. How they are trying to destroy the shifters of the world, but don't stand a chance against dragon shifters. The first alliance between shifters will be Marcus and Princess Paola. It's an okay read, but I didn't really get into the characters. Paola is not a very smart princess and has no real depth of character. Marcus is alpha, lets kill em and get it done.

London Stranger: Historical Regency Romance (Heirs of London #1) by Joyce Alec
This is a fun and whimsical story with a bit of intrigue. It's a good story and the chemistry and dialogue was excellent between these two. The characters are good and warm people. Juliet works with her governess/chaperone to interact properly with Duncan, so she can help him unravel the mystery of the woman who wants to harm the Earl.
A Most Unsuitable Bride for the Marquess by Patricia Haverton, Cobalt Fairy
Talk about a most inappropriate bride for a Duke, a maid is the one thing no one want for the Duke. Unfortunately, our Duke is smitten with Ophelia. There is danger for the dukes family and it somehow involves Ophelia. There are a lot of social problems with this story and takes away from the story being presented. If you like stories that snub society, and pretend that society accepts a maid as a Duchess, then this story is for you. Otherwise, it's just okay.
Too Scandalous to Marry a Duke by Lucy Langton
The only thing going on scandalous in this book is Daniella's behavior. This story had more potential than the author gave it. The characters have a powerful attraction, but more could have been done with Daniella than was done. Although, Eric is a bit of a rogue. He is more than willing to acquiesce to his parents will of him getting married, but he is not willing to marry for less than love. I agree with his assessment of marriage; one should not be unhappy for the rest of their lives by marrying for money and not be able to live with the person you married. I think English society takes marriage and rips it apart from what God intended for us. This story lends itself to these facts. Also, the shirtless Duke to be is off putting. The only time you see a Duke shirtless is in the bedroom or if he decides to do manual labor and takes his shirt off himself to save his clothes. Otherwise the story is quite a good read and intriguing.
A Lady's Forever Love: A Historical Regency Romance Book by Bridget Barton
This story has some wonderful merits, but it's one failing is the repeatability of all the problems that Margaret faces making the story a bit of a drudge to plod through at times. Margaret knows the problems that she faces. She chose to raiser her friends child and all the consequences that come with that. Her father could have stopped Margaret from initially taking the child in, but allowed it to indulge her, but when faced with the Ton's rejection and possible scandal; He tries to marry her off to the first proposal on the table that enriches his pockets. In the end, wouldn't it be easier to let her marry the man she would be happy with and step out of society, than let her be unhappy. Moral of this story is that wealth and society's good opinion doesn't make for a happy life.
Love in Hiding (Love Beyond Danger #1) by Diane Holiday
This is a wonderful suspense novel. The chemistry between the two characters is intense, and Sarah breaks through the rough exterior of Bruce. This story emphasizes the warnings of spousal abuse along with someone who is dirty. Bruce is a wonderful protector and Sarah has found a home on this small horse ranch in Maryland. The intrigue generated is 2nd to the romance, but is just as intense in not knowing what is going to happen next. This is an excellent read for those that love romance mixed with suspense and intrigue.
