A Lady’s Tantalising Portrait: A Historical Regency Romance Book by Daphne Pierce
This story has the worst parents and the stupidest staff. William is hired to paint a portrait of the Duke's daughter. Basically, the two of them fall in love, while her parents torture her with hypocritical puritan ways and velvet dresses to go to balls in. First, no puritan would be found at a ball. This story is so hypocritical that I had to force my way to it's happy conclusion. I'd say more about the conclusion, but I don't want to give away the end. The only thing which hit reality was the relationship between William and Rachael
The Duke who Met His Match: A Historical Regency Romance Novel by Hazel Linwood
This story is just mean and if you are going to plan revenge you should do your homework first. After Lady Anastasia finds that she falls in love with the Duke, her sister gets revenge by telling him Anastasia's plans. She than pawns it off as by saying that she didn't know that Anastasia hadn't told him. The truth is no deserves a happily ever after in this one, because what one sows thus so shall they reap. The worst part in all of this is the Duke had apologized to the sister before finding out about Anastasia plans. The sister is an unemotional and horrible character. Anastasia's love for her sister is totally misplaced as she just forgives her sister for ruining everything.

Highlander’s Blind Love: Scottish Medieval Highlander Romance by Fiona Faris
Well talk about plans going wrong! Our Alexander is a very immature young man and very rash. His plan to make the English open the ports backfires in unseen ways. Alexander is going to learn to mature very quickly, especially when he finds his captive is blind. Delilah is hidden away and is secluded. Her father keeps her ashamed of her disability. The developing relationship misses the mark, because I feel he treats Delilah the same as he treats his maids, with total disrespect of the their bodies. At least Alexander learns to mature, although it's the hard way. Alexander learns to lead his clan, but it's not going to be easy. Keeping Delilah is going to take all his strength and wits. The story plot is great, the characters need more work.

A Duchess in the Apothecary Shop: A Historical Regency Romance Novel by Patricia Haverton
This is well written with a lot of secrets revealed as the story progresses. Verona and Abraham carried this story as their love grew. The minor characters did not help the story as it should have. The Duke ad Duchess had me very irritated by the middle of the story because there hypocrisy had no bounds. Verona’s uncle was a very kind man but contributed very little to the story, an unnecessary character. This story will keep you guessing from beginning to end.

Backlash (The Harry Starke Novels Book 15) by Blair Howard
This story addresses issues of stress in our lives that affect our decisions. His love for his family makes him think he has to handle the world on his own. When all along, he's had a complete family backing him up. The return of Shady Tree was no surprise, but I think his attempt was weak. The action is good and suspenseful, and it is in keeping with the later Harry Starke novels. I must say though, I miss the mystery of the first set of Harry Starke novels.
The Cowgirl Rescue by Jenna Brandt
This is a well written story of a second chance at love. Courtney is a talented singer/songwriter woh works as a music teacher. Sean is a K9 instructor at DCSR. After a tornado, they are thrown back together. This story has a serious strike against it. The author does not really understand anxiety disorder. There are things Sean would have to learn to deal with to be in a long-term relationship with Courtney. The story does not address any these issues. These are things that love does not couquer but requires work and understanding to live with the disadvantages. If Courtney had been without this disadvantage it would have been a 5 start read.

Heart of the Highland Warrior by Anita Clenny
This story did not keep me engaged. The time travel and magic did not work for me. The characters are well written and the chemistry felt real. I was hoping for more when I read this.
