I liked the story and the characters of this book. Anne is independent and knows what needs to be done. She is soft hearted and is willing to sacrifice for her family, even though, they never truly accepted her because of her being born on the wrong side of the blanket. The Earl has always done every thing to prove his parents right when they called him a little devil. Now, that Fredrick is Earl, he needs a wife, but Anne's offer of her sister Claire, makes him decide that he needs the fire that is Anne. I felt that the story should have been longer to give more depth to the characters, and a better way for the Earl to actually fall in love.
