You ever read a novel that the world is upside down? If he pursues her he loses her, if he doesn't he could gain her, but still lose her. What I don't get is why a woman thinks her mother should arrange a marriage when her mother is dead? I think the Earl should have checked Winifred's sanity, even if was in love with her. Imagine a marriage with Winifred's thinking? I don't want to, but the story is well written, despite the scary heroine.
